Thursday

My heater is fixed and working! Apparently when the landlord showed me how to replace the air filter, we didn't get the door put on quite right and that caused the furnace not to come on. Now why that took over a week to happen is unclear to me (since the furnace was running fine for that week), but at least it was an easy fix so I'm not complaining.

Oh, in the middle of everything else I forgot to update y'all on the mice situation which is I found two more in traps yesterday--eight days after I found the last one. The pest control guy said we'd be in the clear after a week of no catches but this is me we're talking about so of course I caught two the day after that deadline.

So, for the record, in 12 hours yesterday I had:

One (1) scratched eye.

One (1) random fire alarm.

Two (2) mice.

One (1) furnace failure.

I was hoping to do some food prep today but honestly I'm worried about my chances with a knife. Do I tempt 2020 to hit me with one more thing? Is it better than risking An Event on the first day of 2021? Something needs done with these greens before they get slimy and I don't think they've got another 48 hours left in them.

Today's dump on cm.net.

Pajama Day:

Couch
Blanket
TV/music
Snacks (only "safe" food)

You're almost finished with what is sometimes known as "The Year of the Turnip" (2017 was that for us); the greens can be sacrificed on the altar of NotToday...

On the other hand, you managed it all.

I'nm glad you managed to get your heater fixed easily!

Now why that took over a week to happen is unclear to me (since the furnace was running fine for that week)

A heater myster! I have one too: my upstairs radiators are all working, and my downstairs one haven't been for at least three weeks now... except for one day, four days ago. I have no idea what's going on but since I don't spend much time downstairs, I can wait until everything starts back on Monday to get someone to investigate.

Mice. :(

Yay for the heater fix! That would be the joy of renting, right? Someone else takes care of it? If you can reach them?

Good luck with the mice, argh, and I'm sure you'll think of something to do with the greens before their sliminess emerges.
