New Year's Day

I've never had to shovel snow on New Year's Day, so this is certainly A First.


Not that we haven't had snow on the ground here for New Year's, just I've never had to shovel it first thing. It's deeper than it looks. About three inches, perhaps a bit more? Enough that I had to quit after clearing a narrow path down my front patio and driveway to get to the mailbox. More started to come down soon after I came back in so I guess it's just as well I wait.

Perhaps some enterprising young people will stop by asking if they can shovel/snowblow it for me. I have actually have some cash on hand, kiddos, come get it!

I haven't stayed up until midnight for NYE in years so I decided to try it last night, just for a change. Guess I got one! Let's see if anything else manifests, now.

Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, but yes fingers crossed for someone who wants to shovel for money!

Oh my God, send me all the snow (wistful subtropical climate). Hopefully not too hard to deal with. Also it's so flat, I forget about the Midwest...

The KU campus is on a rare but sizeable hill. The Ghost Story house is on the opposite side of it from where my student job was and I used to joke (it was true tho) that I had to walk uphill both ways to get there. 😄

I used to actually enjoy shoveling snow when I wasn't an invalid. I'd do our sidewalk, the neighbors to the north and south, and our friends across the street. I especially liked it if it snowed overnight and I could get out there in the dark and quiet before people tramped it down. It was meditative and energizing! Good times, good times.

I'm sure I will, eventually. At least I can space out the shoveling. I did two more lengths of the drive today, so about halfway done!

Snow! \o/ That amount of snow is beautiful. Once it gets over a foot, it's less fun.
