I tried my best to limit my online time yesterday since I was having weird pressure/ache issues behind my eyes. That thing where it hurts to even move your eyes in your head? Ugh. I hoped it was sinus inflammation from the weather change, but I'm thinking maybe I need a new glasses prescription. Which... is not something I want to deal with right now. In addition to the financial hurdle (my current prescription was $600 before insurance) the idea of being close enough to another human being to get an eye exam right now makes my skin crawl. Of course, the way my eye doctor is booked, we'll probably have vaccines by the time I can get an appointment.

My family has a history of eye disease (on both sides, because of course it does) so I really can't put this off. It would be just my luck to inherit Mom's glaucoma twenty years early. Ugh, my left eye is starting to throb again after the minimal screen time I've put in this morning so I guess I'll wrap this up. Might be a while before I can start answering those questions people left for me. 😞

Argh, eye problems are the worst. I have faint retinopathy in both my eyes AND I got a blood clot in my left eye years ago that fucked up the sharp eyesight area. I can see without my glasses but eg reading in bed in the morning or in the night (when I claim I'm too tired to get my glasses) ends up with a weird feeling in my eyes for the whole day.

I should get new glasses too. These are a pain and not quite a perfect fit anymore. But... *grumbles* I don't wanna.

I've had progressives (the fancy new version of bifocals) and I use them for book reading and distance but I never could get my eyes to focus through them for the computer. Kinda wondering if that's part of my problem and now I need them for the computer...yayyyyy.

Can I ask what is possibly an irritating question? What's the $600 for - is that for an eye test, or for the frames? Or both?

Not irritating at all! That was just the cost of filling the prescription for the lenses--no exam, no frames. I know they'd be cheaper online but I was nervous (still nervous) about filling a first-time prescription, especially for progressives, from a place I can't try them in-store. Which was a good thing, since these had to be sent back twice for slight adjustments.

God. There's no good time for glaucoma, but twenty years ahead of schedule would just be CRUEL. Ridiculously cruel! *hugs*

Cruel perhaps, but very on-brand for me. I started graying well before my mom, and exhibited signs of thyroid malfunction a good decade and a half before hers did too, so... *emoji shrug*
