Thanks to the generosity of
squirrelygirly, I've uploaded watchable dance videos of me to YouTube!
These are the only videos of me dancing that I have, and they're both from my last performance in 2014 at the Czar Bar in Kansas City. The first one gives a pretty good idea of my standard style in an unstructured setting, which is the type of performance I preferred--no choreography and heavy interaction with the audience. The song is a version of Habibi Ya Eini, my #1 all-time favorite classical Middle-Eastern dance song. There's hundreds of versions and I probably love them all.
The second one was tragically dark--I was the last performance of the night and the bar lights were low for ~mood~. The first part is pretty boring imo although my zill discard was scripted and tres sexy I thought. The second half I'm using circular veil which looks fancy even in the low light. Anything even moderately visible is entirely due to
squirrelygirly's efforts with light effects. The song is Thunderbolt, from The Latenight Callers, a local band who are now sadly no longer together.
My hair looks really, really great in these videos.
Costume details if anyone's interested (I'm always interested in costuming so I assume others are too). I made both costumes and they're two of the three bra-belt sets I kept. Here's a close-up in good light of Costume #1's bra. The mixed-metal motif was inspired by wanting to use up a bunch of random jewelry, chains, and coins. The silver chains on Costume #2 are very pretty and you'd never guess I paid $.28/ft for them at Ace Hardware. The aluminum bra cups I purchased from a local SCA armory dude whose Etsy shop has been dormant for years but you can see some of his designs.
I'll answer another question maybe tomorrow. I'm determined to work on Good Intentions today and I want to save my wrist for that. Switching to using a mouse (left-handed) helped a lot, but my wrist still gets tired/sore after more than half an hour at a time on the keyboard, so...
