Saturday

Thank you so much to everyone for the kind words and support yesterday. Today is a little better. At least I'm dressed in something other than pajamas. Victory.

Gonna see if sharing Twitter finds will help me feel more connected, so those'll start popping up here again soon.

If y'all are up to helping with something else, I would appreciate manga suggestion for a friend's son, please. From his email: He's got incredibly wide-ranging tastes and he's not afraid of big feels, so something young teen appropriate and awesome would be, well, awesome. A while back I sent the first few graphic novels of Raven the Pirate Princess and he enjoyed them, so don't feel like you need to limit suggestions to Shonen titles. Hit me with recs, please!

One Piece has so many big feels, if he by chance hasn't started reading that yet. Fullmetal Alchemist is one of the best stories ever - young teen...might find it a little too intense/scary but your friend did say "big feels" and that describes the series to a tee. (Bonus: FMA doesn't do T&A fanservice.) My Hero Academia is solid.

These are the ones I would rec! My local 13 year old is LOVING My Hero Academia. I'm going to ask her for some other recs.

Yay, day clothes! LOL. You are doing better than me. Er...It is just around 2:00PM, so I guess I should actually drag myself off the bed, go shower and change into daytime wear too, huh? :b

goss: Animal from the Muppets (Animal - kink)

Haha. Instead of actually getting out of bed, I am instead playing around with silly gifs about getting out of bed. Best Procrastinator Award goes to MEEEEE. \o/

Manga recs:

Seconding Naye's recs of My Hero Academia and Fullmetal Alchemist. Also:

Blue Exorcist
Yona of the Dawn
Hunter x Hunter (admittedly, I've never read the manga but the anime is awesome. A Shonen classic)
Hikaru no Go (as the name implies, centers around the game of GO--I started playing GO because of it. Also a great anime).
That Blue Sky Feeling (an LGBTQ story. It's set in high school, and the MC makes friends with a gay boy, Sho. Eventually, he comes to realize that he might also be gay or bi and has feelings for his friend, but it never develops into an explicit romance between them. It is all very PG. I guess the only thing might be that Sho was previously in a relationship with an older, college-age guy. It's left vague as to whether it was a physical relationship). But it's a cute LGBTQ story that is not BL.

Glad you are feeling (even slightly) better.
-- The anti-headache patch things I was talking about yesterday are called Salonpas (where do they get these names) in this country, you can probably google for them, add Hisamitsu (maker's name) if necessary. If not sold over there, well, they're thin and flat and I might could send you some in a letter envelope ;)
-- I realized that my favorite manga (Oofuri/Big Windup) is probably not available for sale in English... ;( oh well. In graphic novels, maybe Elfquest? It is kind of R-rated here and there for both sex and violence, but I first read it when I was ten or so and didn't find it too adult, and it delivers on big feels.

I always feel like I should have manga recs when people ask for them, but I don't have much knack for assessing age/maturity level and matching interests. (Or remembering what's actually in print.) ^^ Seconding [personal profile] riventhorn's recs of Yona (AMAZING, and just because I'm biased doesn't mean I'm wrong) and Hikaru no Go, though. And Fruits Basket is amazing too.

Also seconding (thirding?) the Fullmetal Alchemist rec.

Also, if he's up for high school romance stories with fun and really solid, well-done relationships, I love both High School Debut and My Love Story!! (Same writer, different artists. [And I've technically worked on both, but only a little bit on High School Debut--I got to do the two much-later volumes because my editor knew I love the series.])

Partly I'm too close to it (and only think about ratings in terms of what vocab I'm not allowed to use >.<) and partly it's the whole "my hobby became my job", so I'm just not very up on titles other than the ones I work on. ^^;

If he liked Raven, then Jeremy Whitley’s run of The Unstoppable Wasp is amazing. Also, I hope it’s okay to branch out into Western comics (given again that he’s like RTPP) because my middle schoolers freaking ADORE Lumberjanes. They have some standalone novels if he’s interested into transitioning into prose. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.

I LOVE your twitter find shares, but if your wrist is still giving you trouble, take care of yourself first. <3
