Sunday

Fanart soft and sad. Old Haixing adorableness.

These altered/manips. What do you call this style of art? IDK but I love it.

Had a nice angsty thought yesterday while gazing at [personal profile] naye's Tumblr post for several minutes. Of course Shen Wei didn't tell Zhao Yunlan anything about how they'd already met. Kunlun never told Shen Wei where/when he was from or who he really was, so Shen Wei was just following his lead. Ugh, that fucking time loop hurts me every. single. time.

My first Zoom practice class with the Tarot group is today. I'm a little nervous since I've not been able to study the cards with the intent to memorize yet. I haven't even tried. I know that part of my brain isn't functional right now and I'm not in a place to push it, so... *shrug* It'll be fine. Maybe there'll be a cutie in the class I get to practice with! 😂

In a staggering fit of probably misplaced ambition, I'm also starting a full-size portrait of Fu Meng Po. Those are 8.5x11 pieces of paper. eeeeek

Haha, yes, and vice versa! The secrecy perpetuates itself! ♥ ♥ ♥

Also, thanks for linking those manips - they are gorgeous!

I don't know. They're certainly manips. Maybe "manip art", since some of them are trying to look like they're painted, or have other art characteristics like collages? No idea. They are all gorgeous, though. Thank you for linking! <3

I hope the class went well! <3

I never know what to call digital art! I've seen them called "edits", as well as manips? But that's also used for vids these days so who even knows.

...wow, now I'm staring at my own gifset.

Ow, oh dear. (I know a lot of people prefer the reincarnation plot from the novel, and it's very much a YMMV thing, but this is why I like the drama time loop version; that perfect(ly painful) combination of individual agency and it-already-happened inevitability.)

From the sublime to the ridiculous, following up on your comment yesterday: I don't have a specific recipe for o-jiya; mostly we use supermarket hotpot bases (you may be able to find them by googling "Japanese hotpot base" or similar and looking for the big rectangular packets), but basically any flavorful broth/soup will do, especially if it's a little heavier on fat, with or without solid ingredients. Add about 1 cup of rice (sticky rice, but long-grain rice might work too) for two servings, and stir until it's rice-consistency rather than soup-consistency (you can ladle out extra broth if there's too much). We usually add grated Parmesan if it's a "Western" flavor (er, lemon, squid ink, etc.) and two beaten eggs for chicken broth, kimchi, pork broth flavors etc. Stir until the cheese or egg is absorbed, and eat.

ack yes, I forgot that obvious piece of information: the rice is cooked! Usually straight out of the rice cooker, in my case.

IDK either, but I find them SO APPEALING as well. I also love digital art that sort of mimics watercolour and splashes and stuff, like in the intro for the MDZS animated series. So cool!

Hope you enjoy the Zoom sessions! :)

I have watercolors and watercolor pencils

Aw, watercolours can be very forgiving! You can always start by using them for abstract backgrounds if you're card-making or crafting. I love to just streak them on wet paper and watch how the colours sort of dance and intertwine as they diffuse across the water. ^__^

Oh yeah, they would definitely work for a textured look. Have fun! :)
