I am waaaaaay too efficient

It's 11:24 and everything is done except the things that require responses from someone else. I'm looking at you in regards to two of them, [livejournal.com profile] mckitterick.

Bummer. I forgot to bring my book to read at lunch. Sigh.

It's not like you can't just lift a book from someone's office around the corner, you know. :P

True. But I'm halfway through American Gods and I'd like to finish it.

I bought that about a year ago and still haven't gotten 50 pages into it for some reason. Does it pick up once you get a few chapters in?

Dunno. I liked it from the start, so I can't say if it "picks up"...

I liked it too. Read it a while ago. We also listened to the book-on-tape version during a couple of long drives. Certainly made driving through boring country interesting.

American Gods is pretty even from start-to-finish. Actually, there are a couple interesting things that happen toward the end, but the first half, where some of the would-be mechanics are going through gaimanesque exposition, are a bit more interesting than where he goes with it. Still, I enjoyed it substantially more than Neverwhere, even though AG was pretty much Sandman-minus-Sandman, with a dull-ish protagonist.

Did you read the revised 45K when I sent it to you?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-12-01 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
I only got about halfway through. Thanks for the reminder! I'll go read that.

It gets sort of, um, chaotick. I hate this book, hate it. I'm working on it right now, can you tell?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2004-12-01 11:42 am (UTC)(link)
I like the book. Does that help? =)

Enough to finish it for me?
