New Z1L pics for Tom Ford.

Bai Yu and Zhu Yilong photo shoots with Zhao Yunlan and Shen Wei vibes.

Fanart: Sweet kitchen times. Felted hamster/weasel! So cute and smol. Baby Wei with Da Qing.

One of my former grad students is teaching a workshop on pleasure literacy narratives this Friday, April 16. I have no idea what to expect and I can't lie I'm a little nervous about it, but I'm looking forward to it! Charlesia is an absolute treasure of a person and I look forward to seeing what she does with this.

Speaking of former KU friends, the three faculty members I've stayed in touch with came over for yard yells yesterday. I've been able to speak with all three of them privately about what went down with the department chair and how shitty she treated me and we talked about how I felt betrayed, etc., and I'm feeling better about those relationships, now. They were all going through shit at the same time, too (little things like family deaths and cancer scares), which is why they didn't reach out to me at the time.

One of them stayed later than the others (my former office BFF who had the room across the hall from me and who put me up when McKitterick's girlfriend came to stay for five days over the 2019 holidays) and we talked about the weirdness of The Great Disappearance of Time when it comes to last year. How surreal that events from 2019 were actually two years ago. We also talked boy problems because wow did he get done dirty last year by someone, too. 2020 was so awful, friends.

My stomach is still being weird and grumpy. The pain isn't bad enough that I can't sleep through it, or at least when the worse waves come I've been awake already, but it's a constant low-grade thing that ranges from vague discomfort to stabby ache. It gets worse when I eat, no matter what I eat. I'm attempting my first batch of congee today to see if that's safe. Wish me luck, it's cooking right now.

And for those not on Tumblr, please alert yourself to the specialness of today, April 13, the 15th anniversary of Neil Banging Out the Tunes.

Luck with the congee! And glad you got to talk to folks, and got a bit more of an insight into why they didn't reach out before.

Good old Neil, banging out the tunes.

Boo stomach troubles! Congee is definitely good for that though. (If you haven't heard, if you freeze the rice before you cook it, it cuts down the cook time to like 15-20 minutes, which is amazing.) (Assuming you're doing the stove top method and not like. Pressure cooking or whatever.)

Oooh, good luck with the congee! Stomach problems are the WORST. :( And I'm glad you got to find out a little more background information.

Yard yelling AND yard kvetching! Honestly, no sarcasm, that sounds like a great afternoon. I can't remember the last time I complained at an actual human face.

Fifteen years?? No! Not possible!

I'm so glad yard yells went well, especially in terms of feeling better about those relationships. *hugs*

Also glad the congee came out well. I hope your poor stomach's feeling better today!

I hope your tummy improves! Ack! Likewise relationships with former colleagues. I always used to run into people at yard sales too. It seems so long ago... (because it was).

The Tom Ford pix are fabulous BTW.
