I was planning to participate in the Guardian fic rec bingo on Twitter, but afternaye patiently explained the set-up to me 😂 I realized I didn't have the brain to associate fics with the squares.
Yesterday I woke up with a headache and couldn't do more than ten minutes of screen time at a go until late afternoon. I couldn't even stand to have music playing. I was also really fatigued, but that might've just been the headache talking. Basically a completely lost day, and one of those where I nearly had a breakdown because how am I going to hold down a job like this? I realize that's a dated mindset, not taking into consideration this potential new world of setting one's own hours, etc., but I have never wanted to be a contractor or self-employed and the gig economy is a hellscape I want nothing to do with. Ugh.
I'm starting the job search in earnest, though. Soon after I cut all contact with McKitterick, a couple different people advised me to take a full month to just be. It was a good call, because I wouldn't have been able to do anything otherwise, really, and this way at least my inactivity was intentional. But it's been a month now, and it's time to start engaging my brain with more than fic writing.

I love the idea of the event and am happily reading everyone's tweets, but I think my brain is really not wired in a way that makes mapping much-loved fics onto themes/tropes. ^^;
