Interview in 5 hours. I'm not a bundle of nerves yet, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time. Only a few butterflies at the moment.

It's consistently warm enough that I feel like I can switch out the seasonal clothes so that's on the agenda for tomorrow.

Today I'm reading articles and tips on successful interviewing, so if anyone's got recs for good ones, hmu.

No recs, just advice from having just done a bunch myself. That is, to try and first respond to a question with a summary level response, hitting your main points, and then proceed to elaborate on them.

How nervous are you about the interview? If you're feeling very rusty (it's been an odd year with a lot less human interaction...) it might be worthwhile to try to roleplay it with someone - probably not necessary for seasoned interviewees but that was one of the most helpful bits of coaching I got when I was signed up at the employment agency, ten or so years ago, and if I got an interview now after a year of things being Extremely Weird, I would consider doing it myself.

And believe it or not I have nineteen years of thank you notes from students saved up (in a scanned document), as well as the document the dear lambs submitted to the Provost and Chancellor when they valiantly tried to save my job from budget cuts in 2019.

Oh gosh thinking about how much I enjoyed that job made me tear up a little bit... Here's hoping I can keep it together during the interview! 😂
