As I suspected, I did not get the Law School job. I'm fine with that. At least they contacted me to let me know I didn't get the job, which was more than the department where I worked for nineteen years did for me.

I tried to get a photo after ~14 hours of my hair in that taping technique. I did not get any good pics of my hair. Bright light makes it look flat and removes all texture, low light makes everything muddy, ugh photographing black hair without a professional lighting setup is impossible. But! I wound up with possibly one of my favorite selfies, ever.

My pupils do not look human and I am here for it. Also I think my nose is finally getting bigger, something I've eagerly awaited since I first learned that noses (and ears) continue to grow as you age. Or maybe it's just the angle. I don't care, it looks huge and makes me happy.

The band around my forehead is from when it started to loosen (I need to find some non-satin ribbon) so I pushed it forward until it was tight again. When I walked past a mirror, I was struck by how it resembles those forehead/hair ribbons in art and illustrations from the turn of the 19th century. Very art nouveau-esque. I like it.

As is frequently the case, this shot, my first attempt of the lot, was my favorite. It didn't give me what I was trying for, but dang it's a good one.

About the ear and nose thing, is this even as a full adult? Will my nose be bigger when I'm 30, then 40? Intrigued.

I think the growth only becomes noticeable when you start getting, like, old-old. So you've got a while! I'm 51 and tbh I can't tell if mine is actually bigger yet or if it's just wishful thinking.

The vertical length effect is the reflection of my arm/hand/phone backlit by the lamp I was in front of. Chthonic oracle, I love it!

Seriously! And I can tell you nobody (at the KC faire anyway) actually uses this technique, which is a pity. Alllllmost makes me wish I still worked there so I could show people.

LOL The women in my family don't show our age. I'm 51 and I actually look older than my mom did at this age. Here's a selfie that doesn't have quite the soft focus effect of the low lighting, but yeah I don't have many wrinkles yet, and dying my hair takes another several years off.

I might be able to help you with the non-satin ribbon - I *think* I have a bunch of black grosgrain? I'm not 100% sure though. It's in Westhampton (my other house) and I'm going up to pick up a couple of things this Saturday. Not sure grosgrain would be suitable, but let me know what you think!

Well I did some digging and apparently my health teacher LIED TO ME because apparently it's not true. Apparently it's just that so many other structural things (skin quality, dissolution of soft tissue, etc.) makes it appear so. I'm very disappointed.

I would definitely take some grograin whenever you get your hands on it, thank you! I need about four yards.

Thanks! And yeah, it is, super comfy. The braids better distribute the weight, so it's not pulling on the back of my head like a bun would, and it keeps my braids from getting in the way if I'm cooking or arting or whatever.

That's a fantastic selfie, and your hair looks gorgeous! I forgot to say that I followed your link to the tutorial, and am currently playing with various techniques and hairstyles she did on there. I want to keep growing out my hair, but I get tired of buns every day.
