It's sure been a first week of work. Yesterday was the first night I got home and didn't immediately crash on the couch. I mentioned to someone that I couldn't even muster the energy to feed myself until I'd at least laid there for two hours. They suggested having food ready-to-go and I had to explain to them that I do have food ready to go. For me, "don't have the energy to feed myself" = "cannot raise a fork to my mouth and then chew."

The fatigue is real.

Yesterday was a little better, though. That was nice. No idea if it was a fluke or a trend. Honestly I'm ready to go back to bed right now (it's 6:49am) so we'll see. Maybe I should've risked caffeine this morning.

I would like to say I was hoping to write this weekend but I have a couple friends coming over to hang out on Saturday afternoon. I haven't seen one in over two years and the other I think it's been four? They live in Kansas City and you'd think a forty-five minute drive wouldn't be that big of a deal, but...

ooof, I sympathize with the post-work crashing. Different reasons but still, totally relatable! I know once you find your groove there you'll get some energy back, though. And also! Friends over! WHAT A CONCEPT!!!! :D

Well, it's definitely a relief to be employed, and I like the other people the office, so I suppose it depends on one's definition of enjoying. (I'm not a person who feels driven to work or whatever 😄)

Thank you, yes, here's hoping.

And lolollll yeah there's a reason I'll never leave the Midwest. I have no desire to deal with traffic like that (or the massive amounts of humanity).

I've actually been pretty lucky in that my commute is generally against traffic so I point and laugh at the people stuck going the other way. My commute is mostly just long because of distance rather than traffic.

Sometimes I think I would like to go somewhere less crowded, but then I remember that a majority of politicians here don't actively hate people like me, and I decide that's a little more important right now.
