A couple days ago I was looking for an old post on my Insta but none of my posts older than 2 weeks would load. I started randomly poking around and somehow stumbled across someone's post from October of last year that made me 😍 I mean, "Everything that I have read of hers kicks you in the feels." 🧡
No idea how I found it bc I still can't replicate the steps I went through. Instagram remains something of a mystery to me which I suppose is just as well since they seem to be changing their format soon and abandoning the people who made the site a success. #UnimpressedUnsurprised
This morning I made a red curry with eggplant and potatoes for my lunches at work and a cold noodle salad with napa cabbage (no carrot because I don't have any and I'm not buying more vegetables jfc I have too many vegetables for one person right now). The noodle salad is for company dinner tonight with my former work BFF whom I miss very much. We're also having my last two pork chops from when I moved everything out of the freezer at the old place. I hope they're not freezer-burned but if they are, I'll just throw some diced chicken into the noodles.
bonibaru retweeted something asking the astrological signs of the people who raised you, which reminded me of a conversation I had with my mom after my first week of work. She was telling me about her health issues (a never-ending source of conversation) and it veered into a one-sided discussion of one of her sisters and how she can't eat avocados anymore (don't ask it's really not that interesting). From there she launched into how the youngest sister is finally happy in a job for the first time in her life. After that Mommy wrapped up the conversation and we hung up without her ever asking how my first week on the job went or my health or how maybe those things were interacting. In fact, during the 20-minute call she never asked a single question of me. A day later Daddy sent me money (?) in congratulations. LOL what. And they wonder why our relationship is so emotionally distant (not that they'd ever ask me, of course--I think even they realize they don't really want the answer to that question).
And since I did get a teensy bit of writing done this week:
He took a closer look at the people making their busy ways through the wide hallways of the Commons. Like they had on his evening tour of Dixing by night, people seemed generally happy. Could Ye Zun’s claimed desire actually be legitimate? Zhao Yunlan wasn’t sure how he felt about that. How could he reconcile someone who had done everything Ye Zun did with someone who would do...this?

I wish I could cook for you! I just got back from dropping off about a third of the curry with a friend because I wasn't capable of eating everything I made and coconut milk doesn't freeze well.

I've mentioned researching into the "mother wound" theory and one suggestion for me to "talk" to my deceased parents is to write them letters, and the irony is they will listen to those letters now as closely and sincerely as they listened to me when they were alive. So. Ha ha? Ha? ??
re: Audacity - I use it and love it, but won't be updating it I guess. Not that I deal with sensitive info but it's the principle of the matter. Anyway, it's open source so I'm sure a battery of coders are already building the fork for it, and I'll just wait for that.

I'm fortunate(?) that I don't feel the loss of my parents' emotional disengagement. Maybe if I respected them more, or thought they'd appreciate the person I've become it might be different. But honestly this stuff just makes for ruefully amusing anecdotes. It only hurts because I wasted so many decades on unhealthy romantic relationships thanks to fucked-up notions of what emotional intimacy looks like. But do I need them to hear me? Nah. What's the point?

Yes! The way he (I think) says something like "let me see the clip" and you can tell he's invested in how the scene looks but the casualness of it tells me this is something he does often, and just *ngnngng* so hot.

Also, your mom and my mom are clearly secretly the same person, in their total lack of awareness that someone besides themselves exist. I think my mom likes the idea of being a mom; but any of the actual being interested in her kids, not so much of that.
