From Tumblr: What the fandom thinks of you generator. I got "would do better in a different genre" which is, uh, hilariously true for my actual life where I feel like I belong in some slapstick hijinks (preferably with a romantic twist) but somewhere along the line I fell into an emotionally bleak dark comedy.
Because I forgot to post a link last week: The previous week's dump and yesterday's.
Tomorrow night I'm going to a local garden party shindig thing with a sort of variety-show theme. These used to be a regular thing and they're kinda invite-only so I feel pleased to have scored a place on the email list. Two people are doing readings, someone else is doing a stand-up piece, and a few people are doing musical sets. Two of the people on the cc: list are former students and two are former instructors in English so I'll know more than one person there (always reassuring).
This marks four weeks at my job! Energy levels are a little better. I'll write more about that (and report on the party and maybe even post a snippet if fortune smiles on me) on Sunday.

I think one of the best gifts of my new job has been my own space. Sure, it's a cubicle with half walls, but it affords me a lot of mental space too and that has really helped. OK, not being in a toxic trash heap helps. I messaged an old coworker today and he was saying my old place of employ has been a complete mess, and he's glad I got out. I wish I could send new jobs to my old coworkers.
That sounds like a really cool party. I wish I could host something like that, but the damn mosquitos are so bad at our house I'd pity anyone who tried to hang outside for any length of time.
