Request for Untamed fan works

I realize that everyone and their dog uses Vienna Teng songs for vidding (bless you for your service), and I know I've seen the song "Gravity" vidded for at least two fandoms (although right now I only remember the one for Good Omens) so I have to believe someone's used it for a Wangxian vid and would appreciate someone directing me to it, please. The lyrics are almost too on point.

While my brain is still unable to engage with heavy emotions, I've been reading a lot of Wangxian fic--hence my headspace when that song came on yesterday (not that Wangxian doesn't have heavy emotional stuff, just I'm not as attached to Untamed characters like I am Guardian so it's easier for me to read casually). In the past few weeks I've read Live from New York, (i've got) trouble in mind, this river runs to you, some impulse of delight, Falling to the Rhythm, and most recently mercy, tear it down (good lord 🔥). If y'all Untamed folks have similar recs I'd appreciate them. I'm enjoying i used to want you dead (now i only want you gone) and although I usually prefer things with a romance element the voice in that series is delightful (I've only let myself read two so far because I want to make them last).

Also, do we put fic titles in quotes? Italics? Is all fic one or the other? Do we italicize novels and put short works in quotes? Do we say fuck the system and not use any demarcations? I'm sure there are opinions out there...

I'm going with quotes for fic and am asking forgiveness for not providing links because I need to get to work. (They are all in my bookmarks under a "Comfort Reading" tag)

My eternal rec is ScarlettStorm's "See all this and more for just ten dollars a month!" series. It's AU (the way Live from New York is) and does have some heavy stuff in it (I cry at least twice each reading), but the heavy stuff is dealt with maturely and expeditiously, and the characters move forward, and it is DELIGHTFUL. And very, very sexy. (The podfic by Rhea314 is also excellent.) Bonus: the second story has knitting!

Also by ScarlettStorm, "in the arms of the angel". Shifter AU and is SO CUTE OMG!

If you don't mind a threesome, "An Elegant Solution" by giraffeter. They add Mingjue to the mix in the canon'verse. I could find no bad there. (Also very, very, very sexy.)

The Untamed is the only fandom where I will do kidfic. This is really brother fic set in Wangxian domesticity: "Attempting the Impossible" by Ariaste

And because it's me, one with the Juniors: "Grow" by cafecliche. (There is an excellent podfic by jellyfishfire, who has also done the first 5 chapters of Live from New York and it is HILARIOUS.)

Thank you!!! Especially thank you for cluing me in to the fact that For a Good Time Call has? sequels??? For a Good Time Call is one of my comfort re-reads and somehow I never realized there is so much more to the series 😂

YMMV, but I loved "For a Good Time Call" but KILF felt like it had an agenda instead of flowing naturally, so I never finished it. I'd be interested to see what you think.

I can't remember off the top of my head, I think it may be background/historical but not in the present. It wait, it may be that LXC is with NMJ in New York, but is seeing MY when in China, and LWJ is not sure NMJ knows or if it's an open relationship. I remember it seemed to unscore how LWJ felt like his perception of things was skewed/slipping, and how he viewed his brother and their relationship. I don't remember it coming to a head, but I was really focused on different things.

It's a fantastic but definitely challenging fic.

I'm not sure if I've read any of the fics you mention - I'm bad at remembering titles untless I'm very invested. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Other than longfic, nothing in particular, no. I like slowburn, UST/angst with happy ending, explicit porn, and characterizations that don't demonize Jiang Cheng.

I have a lot of recs in my AO3 bookmarks, though there are some key stories missing, because I'm still struggling to write comments letting the writers know how very much they mean to me (I feel like it cheats a writer to bookmark rec a story, especially with a note about why I love a story, and not leave a comment, but also I can't write bookmark notes for those stories, either). One of the most important of the ones missing is "Rabbit Heart," which is about the closest to the default versions of WWX and LWJ that live in my head that I've run across in fic, and is just gorgeous. Another is "爱不释手; never let me go," a stunning post-canon casefic that dives deep. The rest are without links, because I just looked at the time and have to wrap this up. There are fandom classics "And So My Heart Beats Wildly" and "The Absolutely True Story of the Yiling Patriarch: A Manifesto in Many Parts." I think you'd also like "A Sure Thing," which is a smoking hot sugar daddy AU. I love both the extraordinary worldbuilding and characterization in "below the clouds, above the lakes." Anything by aubreyli and harriet_vane is worth a read.

I also enthusiastically second Eliza's rec of "An Elegant Solution," which is one of the hottest things I've ever read ever, and a quite satisfying canon divergence to boot.
