Thirty-five and counting

I think I'm one of the few people I know who doesn't think "Wow. I never thought I'd make it this long." I guess I always assumed I'd live to a ripe old age. It'll be a short run if I'm already halfway through.

Feliz cumpleanos, mi qerida!

You have only two years on me, and I expect to live a good long time. Both grandmothers are still alive and my maternal grandfather was 86 when he died.

I think, no matter how long this existence is blessed by your experience of it, that it will be a ride.

Many happy returns by dear, a long deep hug and 35 properly applied swats by the wench(es) of your choice.

The one to grow on I reserve for myself.

Happy ChernobylRed Day!

I think I'm one of the few people I know who doesn't think "Wow. I never thought I'd make it this long."

Gee, I hope not. It really isn't old. I don't think I'll say that when I reach 35.

(I probably will say it once I boot the kid out of the house on her way to college or wherever in 18-ish years)

Many happy returns, miss! Hope that you get well and fully coddled today.

Understand not quite getting the "never thought I'd make it this long" thing. As someone who intends to outlive absolutely everybody, 35 seems like a drop in the bucket.

Muchas gracias, mi amigo maligno. =)

I'm hoping I make it longer than my grandparents. Only one's still alive past 75. I figure I'll hang on for nothing else than due to sheer cussedness.

Do I get to administer it?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-01-31 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! No, 35 is not old. I'll probably think that about 45, 55, and 65, too, though. 75? I might admit I'm old by then. But maybe not.

I just found out I'm getting taken out to lunch, so that's a start. Indian food on a cold, wet day. Mmm.

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2005-01-31 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, wasn't being clear...the damned Flexaril brain...

No my dear, I reserve the right to administer the "one to grow on" to you...once the others had properly prepared you to truly enjoy it.

The manner in which one decides they are old is by comparing themselves, in a sense, to the young. When you see babies you once met (Pari for example) carrying their own, you'll notice.

But frankly, after 21 or so, it never feels any different insider your brain. It's still the same mind (albeit evolved) looking out on the world. One just notices things like "hey, why can't I touch my fucking toes?"

Thank you! It didn't start out too well, but I just got back from lunch at India Palace, so things are looking up. =)

Glad to hear it! 'Twas fun to hear you laugh and see your eyebrow do its thing.

Love!

Since you are a fave of the Kij-ling, I have come to wish you a Happy Birthday. I turned 35 last Monday, and I'm still recovering. May your recovery last longer....

My sister in green would beg to differ, probably. =)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-01-31 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I don't have a real action-packed birthday planned, so I'm expecting a full recovery pretty much...immediately. =)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-01-31 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. This is certainly an honor I didn't expect. My sincere thanks, [livejournal.com profile] bad_bad_zoot. Of all my birthday wishes, I will treasure this one the most.

hey!

I can sing happy birthday better than any other stoopid cats, especially that stupid mean cat you brought to the house who keeps refusing to be my friend even though I let her bet up on me and stuff.

Wait, what was I saying? I can't remember, but gosh, is my fur shiny!
