December meme: 5 Time Travel Destinations
From
brandywine28, five time travel destinations.
I'm approaching these from the standpoint of just being an observer, unable to influence any events or bring anything back with me. Otherwise things get too fraught π
Mid-1920's Berlin
The books, movies, clubs, and salons catering to queer culture drew people from all over the world and I'd like to be one of them for a day. Berlin was also, probably not coincidentally, a fashion hub that rivaled Paris pre-WWII so I probably could catch a runway show, too.
Berlin, November 9, 1989
I've never particularly wanted to visit Germany so it's funny these are my first two destinations. But I would love to experience the energy of a group of people deciding to take some sledgehammers to The Wall. What would it feel like to be caught up in that?
Late 1950's Terre Haute, Indiana
I want to visit my paternal grandparents' drug store food counter so I can eat my Grandma's cooking again. Her fried chicken and cherry pie were incredible and unable to be replicated.
Any major metropolitan city, 100 years from now
Is humanity still existent? Are we thriving? Failing?
Denver, Colorado, Tuesday, July 27, 1993
Peter Gabriel's concert touring the US album at McNichols Arena. Best concert experience of my life. Need to figure out how to get a ticket, though.
If you'd like to ask me for five somethings (I'm terrible at favorites, but I'll give you five and you can pick your favorite π), please leave a comment on this post!

Is that store still in existence? How long was it in your family?

At the height of their business, Grandma said she made about 25 pies a day.

25 pies a day! I can only imagine all of the deliciousness.
Yes, you did tell me that story! Just fantastic and I love that they didn't segregate their food counter.

I kind of want to come with.

And now I'm obsessed with a specific cherry pie I know I'll never taste. Wonderful.

Honestly I don't know why her pies were so good. I watched her make them! She taught me how! But they never tasted quite the same from my hands.
