A million thanks to
radcliffe for letting me use her cutting table for tracing and cutting the dress I plan to wear to the wedding this weekend. Let's hope I didn't have my hopes too high in cutting the size 12. Should be ok on the bust, but I'm a tad nervous about the hips. I might have to stand through the entire ceremony. We'll see. I should have it done by Friday. So if it doesn't fit, I have a day to find and purchase a dress. Thanks to tediously meticulous pattern layout and cutting a smaller size, I managed to save a yard and a quarter of the fabric I was using. So I might use this brocade as one of my bodices for faire. It's a little fancy-schmancy and I imagine it'll shred to pieces in a season or two, but my goodness it's pretty (
pegkerr, look for some truly lovely fabric scraps coming your way once I get into New Wardrobe Mode). It's a nice floral pattern, red and gold on black. It doesn't scream "Oriental Brocade," just looks girly and exotic.
This week I finalized plans to go to New York City with
motherteresatoo,
tattooedartgirl, and No-Longer-On-LJ Yola. I also this week made the final decision to not attend VLV and gave my hotel room to a girl whose room arrangements fell through. I'm a lot more saddened than I thought I would be. I can't believe I'm going to miss the Collins Kids and Dave and Deke Combo. Suxxor. The design for this year rocks. Maybe I'll ask her to bring me back a girly tee if they have one with that design on it.
A heads-up to area 7-day devotional candle lovers: Food 4 Less has a kick ass selection. Who knew? Well, probably everyone but me. Lovely designs (colored decals, not the printed-on line drawings) and supercheap. They have some that I've only seen in areas with larger latino and/or african populations (basically anywhere but Larryville): 7 African Powers, Hand of Power, and some others. You know, more than just Sacred Heart and Guadalupe. They also carry plain candles in a limited range of colors. Right now they're on sale 10 for $10, but even at their non-sale price, they're cheap. $1.09 or something. No Virgen de Cobre, but beggars can't be choosers in these parts. I picked up a Sacred Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and a Miraculous Mother. Score.
I would like to write more on how I'm doing emotionally, but I'm still feeling kind of raw and numb at the same time. Having problems focusing enough. I can't verbalize things right now. Good thing I'm not a writer.

New dress, lovely fabric, a trip to look forward to, and candles!
Things *are* looking up for you. We must celebrate.
Sad to hear about VLV, it seems a closing chapter for you for the time being.
And thanks for the heads-up on the candles. I'm in need of some er.. petitioning at the moment.
