Creepy basements

Tumblr showed me a post from TikTok of someone walking through a New England cellar (we call them basements here) that looks a lot like the basement of Ghost Story's house. Mine was smaller and wasn't as well lit (also lacked the washing machine and surprise pilgrim) but the exposed pipes and half-walls are similar. I can practically smell the cold, musty air.

God I miss it.

That is so much basement. Except the house I grew up with had a pretty large one too, so I don't know why it's striking me that way. ^^;

I know nostalgia is putting a highly forgiving soft focus over the apartment's many problems (like the unheated bathroom that used to be a porch) but gosh I was happy there.

Oh, for sure. I loved my Toronto apartment beyond words and still miss it, and it was just a regular boxy high-rise apartment with a terrible, terrible kitchen. The happiness is the important part.

I realize TikTok is largely awful but I love the curated content I see of it on Tumblr.
