I find humor in strange places

I mentioned that I was lurking in [livejournal.com profile] applyingtograd and I'm so glad. I found this little gem of a response to someone's asking how to tell a program you don't plan to attend:

I think calling is nice. Tell them lots of nice things (your program was great, thanks for flying me out, I had a good time, etc) but that you have another opportunity that you think is a better match for you. Try not to say better school, etc. If you liked the professor you talked to, that's the person to call. If your visit was crappy and you don't really care, you might as well just tell the dept secretary.

Nice. Very nice. I know the person didn't intend to sound mean or slighting (well, I like to believe that, anyway), but sheesh.
