The cloud and silver lining

One of my officemates is on vacation this week. This means:

1. I have to be here at 7:30 a.m. to open the office for the rest of the week.
2. For five lovely days I don't have to listen to her crap radio stations.

Not a bad deal, really.

I was thinking about that radio when I heard how long she's out of town. :)

It's bliss. Absolute bliss.

I don't suppose it means you'll be able to leave a half-hour early, though, does it?

Chris

Um, no, since I'll be the only one here to lock up.

You have to take the good where you can get it. Both the guys I work for are out today and tomorrow. This means I can lj a bit and won't get constantly interrupted by their "desparate" needs. But it also means I have to field all the client questions, check their e-mails/voicemails, and deal the the big boss directly. I plan on looking for the positive.

Words to live by.

Speaking of, how was your Friday night?

The radio sounds like a decent trade off for the half-hour. Blessed silence! Or better music, depending.

Probably both/either, depending on my mood. =)

Does this radio not have a headphone jack? If she has it low enough, and she isn't wearing those noise cancelling headphones, she should still be able to wear them and hear the phone and such without making everybody listen to her music. I wear headphones when I'm at work in this manner because I assume not everybody wants to listen to KANU (http://kpr.ku.edu) or KEXP (http://kexp.org).

If it were me I would just declare war on this stupid radio. That's why it is better that there is only one me.

Nope. It's just a cheap little radio that she keeps on her filing cabinet. Alas, I am low man on the totem pole here.

Hunh. I was going to have the same response -- is the office the type where one person gets to have control over the environment of others? I mean, the concept that the lack of her audio makes it worthwhile to be in the office at a different hour is pretty alien to me. Can you wear earplugs, or headphones, then respond (if that solution becomes a problem) that you're simply enjoying your own music (or lack of same) but without requiring others to experience it?

Or would that get you burned?

I won't wear earphones or earplugs because I'm the first point of contact in this office. I'm the first person people see when they walk in and I want to look friendly. =)

Another plus:

Choices in parking if you need to drive.

Which I did this morning, since I've got PT this afternoon.
