Changes

This last Saturday, I got together with a group of friends that used to meet up every Friday night for drinks, games, Farscape, and damn fun times. The eight of us (four couples) had our "Friday Night Fun" group for two, maybe close to three years. Of that group, two of the couples have broken up, one couple just got married, and the other couple is moving to San Diego. That last one is why we were getting together. One last hurrah before rorschachsix and Amy pack up for the Left Coast.

rorschachsix and I dated for a few years, stayed friends past the breakup, and I was a bridesmaid at his wedding to Amy, who has became one of my closest friends through these...six? seven? years. It's hard to see them go, and it didn't really sink in until this morning. Not sure why. But, wow, they're leaving. Really. And I'll probably only get to see them once a year now.

Damn it.

I'll miss them. A lot.

It's so hard when good friends take paths that lead them out of your daily life, isn't it?

Me, I'm grateful for the net. It's allowed me to keep ties over distance.

Yeah, Amy moved in with me when she came to Lawrence 7 years ago this June. It doesn't seem like it has been that long!

With them being in Kansas City, I didn't see them much once FNF ended. It will still be sad to have them leave knowing there won't even be any spontaneous weekend get togethers.

You have good taste in friends: nice people, fun, clever, intelligent. But just as I start to get to really know them, whoosh, off to Cali. Sorry they'll be so far away.

Yes, we're wired and will be even more so since I'm the scouting party to SD and we'll be spending at least 6 weeks up to 3 months apart. Thanks all for the kind words and well wishes. Although I am moving this Sunday, Amy will still be in KC to finish up her work and to be point on selling the house. I'd appreciate any help you can give her in the next two months or so until we're back together.

You're always welcome to come visit, and Las Vegas is only a 1/2 day's drive away for me an a cheap plane ticket for you guys. Also you've got automatic lodging for Comicon this year. I know I'm going.
