Friends

I updated my friends list today. Friends lists are so weird.

There are eight or ten journals I read regularly besides those on my Friends list. But because I don't know the people, I feel silly adding them as a friend. So I just have them bookmarked. Several of them are people that are Friends of Friends whom I find fascinating and cool. A couple are people that I know about, but have never met. One, I must admit, is wilwheaton, who has the distinction of being my Latest Internet Crush (no fear, Wil, these usually last about three days unless you're the slackmistress, who I'm still a little taken with).

I know a lot of people have this love/hate relationship with the Friends list. I can't help feeling like it's some sort of popularity test. The whole thing is just sort of awkward sometimes.

Anyway, speaking of these people who I read who aren't on my Friends List: I just started reading thepencilneck's and found out that I am:

You're Jack Burton.
The Pork Chop Express.

As far as I'm concerned the friends list is just a bookmark management tool, nothing more.

Those who have a headtrip about it should get a freaking life...it's a blog community...

HA HA HA!!! So, basically, you're telling me I should get a freaking life? Hee hee.

Although I don't know that I'd say I have a headtrip about it. Just a vague sense of discontent.

ok, DUDE. Did you see the pic of him with blue hair???

*fluff* fluff* fluff*

Nope, if I thought you had a head trip, I'd have said so and then pointed and laughed.

Being annoyed/concerned with the freaks who are freaky about something (and the wish to avoid unnessisary bullshit and drama) does not qualify as being freaky yourself. At least as far as I've ever been able to tell...

The one of Wil with blue hair? Yeah. Uh-huh. Can I get a Hell Yes? Yeah baby. Thought so.

The weird thing is that they tied "whose pages you want to read easily" with "whom do you want to read my friends only posts". Also calling it "friends" instead of "bookmarks" makes it weird.

Everyone I read now is either a "friend" or "friend of friend". I've never met any of my "friends" in real life, but they're all people I would like to meet. On the other hand, some of the friends of friends I read regularly and should make friends, but haven't for the reasons you mention.

What movie is this? The background looks very Arthurian...but he's holding...a rifle.

Oh, man, how can you not recognize our hero Ash from Evil Dead (followed by the fine Army of Darkness). You gotta love a time-travel, zombie, magic, evil, psychedelic, coming-of-age, comedy.

I see there's a newly released DVD of this classic. If I pick it up, I'll bring it over to show y'all.

Chris

PS: Rifle? No, silly, it's a double-barrel, breech-loading shotgun. Duh.

Ahhhhh. OK, yeah sure! Bring 'em over! We have plans for next weekend, but perhaps the one after that?
