A cross-cultural opportunity of drink

I am so making these this weekend. Even if I have to drink them all myself.

Black Currant Diablo
1 1/2 oz (3 tablespoons) black-currant nectar (or creme de cassis)
1 oz (2 tablespoons) tequila
1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
1 lime twist (strip of zest)
1 to 1 1/2 oz (2 to 3 tablespoons) ginger ale
Fill an 8-ounce tall glass with ice cubes, then add nectar, tequila, lime juice, and lime twist and stir. Top off with ginger ale and stir to combine.

I'm also going to try a drink [livejournal.com profile] slackmistress mentioned today: an Imperial Fizz. Peach schnapps and champagne.

Should be a rockin' good time in the sewing room all weekend, I can tell you that.

For my more prurient readers, I'll just mention I've been looking at the French Toast website a lot lately. Thinking of putting in an order when I've got some extra cash. You know. Just thought I'd mention.

Hmmmm. I know the Imperial Fizz as a Memosa (as served at the Macaroni Grill, anyway)...

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
A mimosa is champagne and orange juice (http://www.cocktaildb.com/recipe_detail?id=3390).

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
And now that I do a search, her version of an Imperial Fizz does not at all match any of the cocktail recipe databases I just checked. Hm. Guess I'll have to make up a name for it myself, then.

[identity profile] curieuse.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
May I suggest the name "Georgia Bridesmaid"?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
That is absolutely charming! You win! I'm not sure what you win, but I'll think of something.

[identity profile] curieuse.livejournal.com 2005-06-03 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Hooray for winning. Points are always nice, even if irredeemable. ;)

[identity profile] nataliesee.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm, black currant anything'll do for me. Wish I could drop by and cheer you on. Just think, in 2 months, you're the one I'm gonna call when I'm working on new faire garb...and close to tears, of course.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Woooo! Rock! Not the close to tears part, of course, but the rest of it--hurray!!! It will be so nice to have a fellow bodice-builder in town to help with fittings.

Oh, and hey, carpooling to site. Hm! Hadn't thought of that...

[identity profile] nataliesee.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Neither had I. Perfect! And we both have kitties to care for so we can swap care-giving duties. Yay. :)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Can't wait to meet your kitties!

[identity profile] radcliffe.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Wooo! those sound simply amazing! yum yum yummy!

[identity profile] lionsaoi.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Yum. Screw the coffee... I'd be willing to help you drink!

:0) Whatcha up to this weekend?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sewing and drinkin'! Wooo! Wanna come watch me get drunk and sew? LOL!

[identity profile] lionsaoi.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually, sounds like fun, so long as you don't expect me to sew. At all. (I can thread a needle though: behold my skillz.)

Saturday or Sunday!?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Whichever! Saturday might be better, though. If I overdo it that day, I might not be up to much for Sunday. *grin*

Nah, I don't expect you to sew. I love having company when I'm sewing, though. It's nice to chat while my hands are occupied. I don't think I have your email, so drop me a line at chernobylred at livejournal dot come and we'll work out details.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
chernobylred at livejournal dot com of course, duh.

Re: Whatcha makin?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha. You're a funny girl.

[identity profile] lionsaoi.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
heh.

I'll drop you a line.

[identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that would be something to see!

But I gots the short person this weekend (on some schedule, anyway. Not sure how this weekend is looking...)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Gods willing, I will avoid sewing over my finger. Again.

[identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Should I admit that sewing your own finger seemed the most likely bad effect? LOL

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm...that recipe is in this month's Gourmet magazine. I'm going to have to whip up a batch of those too! Along with these yum-sounding passionfruit caipirinhas (http://www.epicurious.com/drinking/drink_views/views/232182).
I'll be drinkin' so fancy!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
What is that last ingredient? I've never even heard of it.

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Cachaca (http://www.cookbrazil.com/cachaca.htm)
I'll have to see if anybody around here carries it. I bet Gomer's does.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes. I do know that. I've had it. That's some powerful stuff, there. Whew!

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Those crazy Brazilians!! I guess they need that to get all their hair waxed off...ok, really bad joke. Sorry.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Fucking crazy Brazilians, indeed. Yeah, that was the party where someone put their foot through the dining room wall. Not a good night for Chernobyl Red.

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to bring up bad memories :(
Personally, I'm getting too old for parties that end in massive property damage.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I've always been too old for that sort of party. It should've been a sign that our relationship was on the downhill slope when my partner at the time wasn't at all phased by the hole in the dining room that I had just spent a week painting.

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny the clues we don't pay attention to at the time, eh? Cliche alert: Hindsight is always 20/20.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2005-06-09 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
oh gawd, can we find it around here?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-09 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know about local sources. The crazy Brazilians that Dean knew brought it from home...

[identity profile] tattooedartgirl.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've seen it at Wholefoods, maybe a world markets near you carries it

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Good thinkin'. Although the last thing I need is another excuse to go into World Market o_O!

[identity profile] green-tara76.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
BTW, her concoction sounds more like a Bellini, minus the peach nectar.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I was wondering about that when I tried to do a search for a recipe....

I think any champagne cocktail is kinda WT myself. I mean, it's not like you're using the good stuff! (not that I'm above a little trailer tipsiness, I loves me some Bellinis :)

[identity profile] tattooedartgirl.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 07:37 pm (UTC)(link)
that sounds yummy!!!!

I love the bellinis at macaroni grill-anything with champagne I'll drink!!!!

[identity profile] professormass.livejournal.com 2005-06-02 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)

Fiend. Make me regret quitting the bottle.
