Silent auction item donation thoughts

I'm considering donating one of my old, too-large tassel belts to the silent auction being held at Mother Pocket's for hurricane relief. My biggest concern is I've tried to sell these in the past, and nobody has ever seemed very interested in buying. Should I bother donating one? They do make excellent wall art, but do you think people will realize that and bid if they're non-dancers?

I'd appreciate opinions, please.

[Poll #583943]

New icon, and no, that is not the belt I'll be donating. =D

It's wierd that you've never been able to sell one before.

And hey, I know from personal experience that you are running out of space in your sewing room... if they're a chance something you aren't going to use anymore can be taken OUT of you space... especially if you lose no money on it nor time, go for it!

Still plenty of wall space, though, which is where they're hanging now! =D

Could you donate with a card explaining how to display it as wall art?

I could...that's a thought!

Now see, the REAL question is, do you auction being able to take it off of you. Now that..THAT my friends would cause a riot.

I think a card and an autographed picture of you wearing it would cause those bids to skyrocket!

Just a thought.

Yes, I've actually bought these on Ebay before when I've felt too lazy to make my own (quite often nowadays, ever since I had the child). But, I also belly dance so was buying it for a purpose. I think they can be stunning works of art and if people didn't recognize that right off, I think (as other people have said) a note attached would work. But, the ones on ebay got more bids than just mine so people *do* buy them.
