Silver linings

Ah, there is a bright spot to these nasty-ass bites (which, by the way, itch like crazy today). Because I'm eating yogurt twice a day, I decided to spring for the good stuff. I am once again reminded of the True Bliss that is Brown Cow Cream Top Plain Yogurt. OMG. Heaven. Why do I even bother with the artifically flavored low-fat stuff? Yuck!

Another sparkly! I know I'm morbid, but I think this is about the coolest use for dead bodies ever. Laws won't let bodies decompose and feed the earth like we're supposed to, so why not find something pretty to do with a corpse? Personally, I find this fantastic. If my parents hadn't already purchased grave plots in Indiana, I'd approach them about this possibility.

I realized that, what with the holiday season approaching, I need to be careful about Items of Lust that I post. Like yesterday's casserole. Posting that was not a gift suggestion. I just loved the shape and shininess. Plus, I've not heard stellar reviews of Overstock.com.

Only two more weeks of faire to go. I'm worried about our Madam. I don't think I'm going to get [livejournal.com profile] nottygypsy's bodice done (the first mock-up, maybe, but the final version with her good fabric, no). I didn't get my shawl done. Oh well.

I'm thinking it's time for me to bow out of the bellydance troupe again. I'll continue to take workshops and dance at Aladdin, but I don't want to commit time to the troupe anymore. I've sort of been doing it half-assed all along anyway, and I don't feel that's fair to the other members. I love bellydance, but it's not my life. There are too many other things I want to do and being in the troupe is not at the top of my list.

What is my list?
  • Relax. Maybe even go to a movie. Or read a book. Pet my cat.
  • Sew myself some winter clothes.
  • Get some promised sewing done for friends (with [livejournal.com profile] professormass at the top of that sub-list).
  • Cook a freaking meal already! Something with, you know, vegetables.
  • Make up some Lydia-style torans for possible sale.
  • Try out some new art techniques and styles. I'd like to try collage and shrine-making, for example. [livejournal.com profile] bestill, I'd love to get with you about this sometime. [livejournal.com profile] tattooedartgirl, I might be emailing you for advice.
  • eBay the rest of my stuff-to-be-rid-of (Disney videos, Longaberger baskets, vintage Salem dinner place settings).

I think that's enough for right now.

    1. How long have you had your LiveJournal/blog? Since May 8, 2003.
    2. What do you consider to be the main purpose of your LiveJournal/blog? Staying in contact with friends.
    3. If you could change something about your personal blogging style, what would it be? Nothing I can think of...
    4. What are your criteria for adding someone to your friends list/blog roll? I like to have met them in person, or, failing that, have exchanged more than a couple emailed conversations. I want to feel like I know everyone on my flist.
    5. Name one thing that you've never before written about in your LJ/blog. I don't believe I've ever mentioned that fact that I legally changed my name in 1991.

    1. Have you ever been to the emergency room? Yes, on a couple occassions.
    2. What's the worst pain you've ever had? When I crushed the pinky toe on my left foot by dropping a 40-pound floor tile on it.
    3. If you could choose your doctor, do you prefer someone of the same or opposite sex? I prefer a female nurse practitioner.
    4. Do you take vitamins? Yes. Many.
    5. Would you prefer to go to the doctor, the dentist or go sky diving? I wouldn't mind going sky diving if someone else paid! But I don't have any particular dislike of going to either the doctor or the dentist.

Good goals all. Will I have the pleasure of seeing you at my party tomorrow night?

This morning I finally decided to give up my goal of completing coats for myself and [livejournal.com profile] everflame for this weekend. Next year. This afternoon, we're gonna go to Hancock and settle for snuggly wraps :).

Do you have any time for lunch at Jade? We'll pick you up. We're thinking 12:45ish (or sooner if I can get out of work right at noon).

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! I hope to be there! Thanks to Liam, I haven't seen nearly enough of [livejournal.com profile] breathofgold this year--I got spoiled last season. So I'm very much looking forward to the party.

Can you please email me directions to your place from faire site?

    [identity profile] iron-clad.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Emily and I are doing lunch around noonish at Fred Piots on the Plaza if you want to make it a group outing?

    [identity profile] iron-clad.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
    I'm on it.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd love to go to lunch, but I've eaten out WAAY too much this week and I'm feeling a bit bloated. Could we schedule for lunch sometime next week? Tuesdays and Thursdays work best for me for lunch outings.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Seeing as we're in Lawrence, I'm thinking this isn't really an option. =)

    [identity profile] lionsaoi.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Now that you are nearly free, I'd love to see you!

I have always thought the diamond thing was an absolutely fabulous idea. I wonder if it would begin to feel psychologogically creepy to 'wear someone' on your finger, though, after awhile. I don't really *think* so, but the psyche is an odd thing.

As for overstock.com, I can give you all the stellar reviews you want of that place. I love it and have been shopping there for years and have never had a single dissapointment. All of their items are of excellant quality and ridiculously cheap compared to other places. And I've bought everything from a two peson hammock to featherbeds and down comforters, to pillows, to vietnamese bowls in worldstock store, moroccan tea glasses, etc. etc. Point being, I've run the whole gamut of their selection and everything has been extraordinary.

    [identity profile] iron-clad.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep forgetting that there is a geographical situation between us. *Lament* <:(

    [identity profile] nataliesee.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. Sorry, hon, that's just too much of a drive from here. We'll have to catch up with you later.

    Thanks for the invite, though!

They are up on the Brothel.

Bloated is not really a bad thing for fitting in corsets...

    D.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Wow, that's good to hear! I've read too many reviews from people who had problems returning things when items arrived damaged or not as described.

And I think the wearing-a-dead-person creep factor would depend on one's feelings towards death in general. Someone who is bothered by ideas of death and dying and unresolved as to his reactions towards the inevitability of loved ones passing before him--probably not a good candidate to wear good-old-mom on a necklace. =D

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I'm feeling uncomfortable in my *jeans* and I really hate that. I'm super sensitive to bloating in my tummy area and I don't like how I can actually feel it all the way to my internal organs. Ew. Just doesn't feel good.

If I could limit water bloat to my tits, I'd be ecstatic. And I'd eat Chinese everyday through the full run of faire. =D

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I shall be ready to un-hermit myself come November!

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:28 pm (UTC)(link)
    Roxxor. Thanks.

    [identity profile] iron-clad.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll still see ya tomorrow night yes?

    [identity profile] nataliesee.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't technically get a lunch break except for friday's so maybe we can plan a post faire dinner? Or, I guess it doesn't have to be post faire, just an anytime dinner...

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
    Yes! That'd be lovely!

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
HA! OK, nevermind my earlier comment. I got it out of context in email and thought you were asking me if I was gonna make it to the party. =D

    [identity profile] iron-clad.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry, I have short term memory loss. Can't wait to meet you!

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
    *snort*

    [identity profile] nataliesee.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 04:05 pm (UTC)(link)
It is a possibility. We're gonna have to play it by ear.

    [identity profile] adammaker.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
mmmm, CR's breasts discovered to be powered by soysauce!
    Nudes at 10.

The old 'reads too many fantasy novels' part of myself wants to design a 'magic sword' with my-late-self set as a diamond in the pommel.

    Won't my nephew be surprised!

    (C.S. Lewis references aside.)

    [identity profile] emeder.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, those dead people gems are great! I want that done to me!

    [identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I would be happy with you mocking me. ;)

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
    ;D

I do fear that the fabric Jana picked out won't last long, though. It's one of those metallic brocades, and Madam can tell you just how well those hold up...especially on girls who need a lot of support. The fibers just don't hold up like upholstery fabric will.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Aren't they lovely? I'd want the yellow one instead of the blue, though. Mommy always hates the way she looks in yellow, alas.

    ...oh I'm so awful...

    [identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why I was thinking of a sturdy black mock and just trimming with the pretty stuff, if that makes any sense.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes!!! I understand, now. Yes. Yes that I can do.

    woot!

    [identity profile] nottygypsy.livejournal.com 2005-10-07 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
    Happy Dance!
    Thank you!

    [identity profile] pamelonian.livejournal.com 2005-10-08 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
I think Jana is more into the sparkly than the durability.

    [identity profile] pamelonian.livejournal.com 2005-10-08 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
There are too many other things I want to do and being in the troupe is not at the top of my list.

I totally understand that. We keep adding things to our lives without removing some. There are only so many hours in a day.

In regards to the aforementioned sewing:

    YAAAAAAAAAY!

You're the bestest long distance friend ever.

I'd be interested to know what baskets you are selling, though even used Longaberger is more then I can afford usually

Friday 5 - amusing - 1991 is when my middle name became my legal middle name (before it was just a 'used' name - but when I got divorced and re-changed my name it became legal.
