Beauty

The Spanish doesn't need another bodice, but...but...whimper. Also, for the upcoming leopard-print cabaret costume, sob, whine.

But. Too much fabric already + Not enough money = No Fabric Purchases.

I thought my neck was better when I went to bed last night, but I woke up with it killing me again this morning. At what point do I break down and make an appointment with a chiropractor? I'm not sure. Damn my high pain tolerance, because I feel like $100 is better spent paying off the credit card right now.

She's a Beauty by The Tubes just came on the radio. I love this song. Why does all their other stuff suck so bad?

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
My dear, your neck was better last night, unfortunately, it's really easy to retweak a neck injury in sleep...that's one of the reasons I always drug, when I need it, overnight, as I'll wank my neck hard when unconsious.

Chiropractor sooner works much better than later.

And yes, you should do that fabric. It's too faboo to pass up, and what does it take to do a bodice for your tiny assed body at this point?

D.

=D Fabric.com has a minimum one yard cut. I certainly don't need more than that.

[identity profile] malvito.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Pish tosh!! Need has nothing to do with it. Malvito the Malevolent needs another costume ... I just didn't get around o making one.

Can either of these potential new outfits be made, or faked, with materials at hand?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Can either of these potential new outfits be made, or faked, with materials at hand?

Gods, yes. I have *miles* of fabric. I just want these new ones...

[identity profile] malvito.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
(LOL) I know the feeling.

I've been shown an interesting black/red fabric with skulls woven into it. Perfect, no? But I'm pretty darned sure it would never get past the costume nazis, and it is very polyester, meaning it wouldn't breathe.

But, Gods and Monsters, it would look neat ...

The person who dies with the most uncut unused fabric wins!!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
My goal is to live until I can use all my fabric. I'm figuring on something that borders on immortality at this point.

[identity profile] socialdragnfly.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Very good goal! :) lol

[identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The person who dies with the most unused fabric is _dead_!

When is the estate sale :)?

[identity profile] socialdragnfly.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
*giggle* then we win!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Find me something equally luxe and I might 'not-so-secret' Santa you in exchange for motivation to get me sewing ;)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Find me something equally luxe

....you mean something currently in my stash? Or something else on Fabric.com?

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, if it's something in the stash, that'd be peachy.
Do you think you have anything in my color ranges? Deep jewel tones or coppery works for me.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Feel free to come dig. Failing that, check out these embroidered taffetas (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-drapery-fabric-embroidered-iridescent-taffeta-fabric.aspx). Luxe!!!

What're you looking to make? House decor or costumes?

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
*catches breath*

costuming.

*hides face in hands and peeps through fingers*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Cabaret, tribal, or tribaret?

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Methinks I be needing new tribal.
The vests, they canna contain me no more.

  • Here's some gorgeous orange/rust (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-chenille-fabric-waverly-chenille-fabric-waverly-stetson-br-coral.aspx)
  • Some delicious dupioni in red (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-drapery-fabric-dupioni-silk-drapery-fabric-promotionally-priced-dupioni-silk-promotional-dupioni-silk-iridescent-brick-red.aspx) or orange (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-drapery-fabric-dupioni-silk-drapery-fabric-promotionally-priced-dupioni-silk-promotional-dupioni-sik-fabric-iridescent-flame.aspx)
  • A jaw dropping burgundy shantung (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-silk-fabric-silk-shantung-silk-shantung-burgundy.aspx), also available in orange (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-silk-fabric-silk-shantung-silk-shantung-sienna.aspx)
  • Not usable for a vest, but this red fake leather (http://www.fabric.com/home-decor-fabric-solid-fabric-leather-lux-leather-lux-br-paisley-claret.aspx) would look super cool covering a bra

    Just some ideas!
  • [identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
yum. I think I'll need to order some swatches, those colors are close but could be deadly if they're not right.

    [identity profile] the-themiscyran.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahem - just in case you would like a "period" excuse for fabric...

Of course the Spanish needs a new bodice. She's from Spain - you know, where the fashion comes from. How will the rest of us know what to copy otherwise? *grin*

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-17 08:44 pm (UTC)(link)
    *grin*

Have you seen Butterick's new bodice pattern (http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4669=x&TI='4669'&page=1)? I wouldn't use the actual bodice ([livejournal.com profile] grnvixen's sloper fits me too well to bother with anything else), but I love that peplum!

    [identity profile] grnvixen.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:01 pm (UTC)(link)
You can always try the peplum on the sloper :).

And keep resisting the temptations! Remember, Cy's big sale is the day after Christmas. Not only tons of cool fabric, but you can also TOUCH IT! And might even have Christmas money to spend :) :) :).

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)

And I will, I guarantee it!

    [identity profile] prairietracker.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
Lovely fabric! I keep eyeing yarn right now. I have almost finished my first big knitting project, a Slytherin scarf (http://knit.atypically.net/scarves/hogwarts/). Though I may have pushed myself too hard last week. I got a huge knot my back. I got my D.O. to take care of it yesterday.

If your insurance doesn't cover Chiro, consider going to a D.O. They get similar training to chiropractors, and as medical doctors as well. I recommend Inzerillo Family Practice. Dr. Inzerillo can take care of that neck for you. I expect his partner, Dr. Alice Bremby could do the same but I haven't actually met her yet.

I'll blog the scarf when I have it all done.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You're knitting now? Too cool!!! We really need to catch up.

Thanks for the tip on the D.O. I have to get a referral from my PCP first though. Boo. If it's not better over the weekend, I'll call in for an appointment (that I have to pay $20 for) to get a referral ($30 payment to the non-PCP office visit). Why do I bother paying health insurance?

    [identity profile] prairietracker.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I just made my D.O. my PCP. No referral necessary. I pay a $25 for the visit though.

Now that I have knitted a scarf, I think I will try my hands at the Hermione hat--the Hatmione (http://knit.atypically.net/hats/hermione/)--a cable and bob hat that should go nicely with the scarf.

So, want to meet for an Indian food lunch sometime? I can easily get just about anywhere
    dowtown for lunch.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd be great!!! Not next week, obviously, but perhaps the week after!

    The Tubes

    [identity profile] adriang.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
She's a Beauty by The Tubes just came on the radio. I love this song. Why does all their other stuff suck so bad?

They are kind of an odd band. It seems like there must have been some kind of shift in strategy with "The Completion Backward Principle" and then more so with "Outside Inside". And then, they didn't produce any more until "Genius of America". They do have some other good songs, but they have a lot of stuff that's just not worth the time you might spend listening to it. If you haven't heard them, you might listen to "Fastest Gun Alive" and "How Can You Live with Yourself".

In general, though, listening to them is like watching an active company. Each song shows you a picture of something. It's never them telling you about themselves, but rather they are putting on a show of a sort. There's tremendous variety in the styles of songs (in their later stuff, at least), and it would be easy to fail to recognize new songs as being from the same group.

In any case, sorry to hear about your neck. I hope it get's better.

    Adrian

Exactly! I don't mind bands trying new things with albums--but every single song? And most of it, IMO, rather irritating.

Mmmm! FABRIC. (Homer Simpson donuts voice) Oh, I'd be whimpering too.

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I might just break down and get it. The Madam (http://www.livejournal.com/users/rougewench/) says I should!!!

    your chiropractor charges $100??

    [personal profile] themadblonde 2005-11-18 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Demasiado, querida!! I know a great one, but alas, she's up here.

HOWEVER, YES, go see your chiropractor. & use ice.

& buy yourself some fabric for christmas. ;-)

    Re: your chiropractor charges $100??

    [identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The one I went to in town here (who was, I admit, excellent) charges $100 for your first visit and $75 for each following visit. Since I haven't seen her in over 5 years, I'd be considered a new patient.

    Sigh.

And I didn't buy the fabric. I bought books instead. *grin*

    ok...

    [personal profile] themadblonde 2005-11-18 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
as long as you treated yourself.

That's still a LOT. Cost of living is higher up here & prices aren't that high for most chiropractors. Of course, we have one of the nations highest per capita percentage of them, so perhaps they HAVE to charge less up here.

    Hmmm! Good to know. Thanks!
