Friday finally

Thanks everyone who came out for the bellydancers! We had a really good crowd last night. I made it through three passes since we were a little short on dancers. The neck is still not feeling so great.

My nose has been really stuffy the past couple days. Dunno what's up with that. And this afternoon after lunch I had this crazy sneezing fit that lasted about ten minutes. Insane. Mold count or something must be through the roof.

I got a call from Daddy right before lunch.
"Bring your slippers for Thanksgiving."
"Um. What? Okay."
"Bring you house slippers next week."
"...um....OH! Yeah! The carpets! How do they look?"
"The carpet cleaner guy just left and your mother says nobody is ever walking in this house wearing shoes again. Bring your slippers."

My parents are great. Can't wait to see them next week! They must really love me because they said they'd wait until I got there to go see the new Harry Potter movie.

Oh. I just spent a metric assload of money on myself. I think I won't be buying that fabric I found yesterday.

1. What do you do for fun? Sew, read, bask in the good company of friends.
2. Is there a person from your past you would like to talk to again, even if it would be a potentially painful conversation? I'd like to talk to Grandma and get her pickle recipes.
3. What is your favorite comfort food? I don't really have one anymore. Dolly Madison Powdered Sugar Gem Donuts just don't do it for me these days.
4. What is your preferred form of self-expression? (Do you dance; or express yourself through music, conversation, etc.) Um. Speech?
5. You just received $5000; what do you spend it on? Sigh. Debts.

1. Favorite brand of jeans: On me? Or on others? On me, I like the way my Dickies fit. On boys, though, Levi 501 button fly. Mmm.
2. Magazine you read regularly: I don't.
3. If a button came off your clothing, could you sew it back on? Could I? Yes. Would I? Er. I've been known to wear a shirt for years with more than one missing button.
4. Have you ever had a curfew? Nope. Lucky me!

1. How many hours do you normally sleep at night? Eight
2. Do you wish you had more time to sleep? Or do you wish that you slept less? I wish I didn't have to sleep so much. It uses so much time.
3. Do you like sleeping? I don't like *not* sleeping because I feel like crap when I'm tired.
4. What is the longest continuous period that you have spent awake? Why did you do it? Oh, probably 24 hours at the most. I'm sure I was caught in the throes of some new love affair or something of the sort.
5. If you were offered the chance to eliminate sleep from your life, with absolutely no negative physical or psychological side effects, would you take it? Why or why not? What if this chance was only possible for you, and not for any of your friends or family, or society at large? Oh *hell* yes. Most of the stuff I need to do doesn't require the presence of others, and I rarely remember my dreams anyway. Just think of all the sewing I could get done if I didn't have to sleep! I could actually make it through my stash before I died. Yes yes and yes. I've actually thought about this before. Oh, it would be wonderful.

I actually started drooling over your recent purchase.

It *is* getting hot in here.

Isn't it amazing??? I gave myself a week to think about it and then decided I'd be a freakin' moron to not buy these. I used to spend $60 a month on fabric. I can spend it on these instead.

I keep forgetting, how many metric assloads are in a shit ton?

That is a beautiful set of books.

how many metric assloads are in a shit ton?

In this case, just shy of twelve hundred.

*cough*

Wow, that is a great purchase. I'm almost tempted myself, but the funds are just not there.

You can come visit my copies. =D

I promise to wash my hands and not lick the covers. Arabian Nights is one of my favorites among all the folklore I've read.

I can't articulate how excited I am that I'm going to get to read stories from it that I've never read before. Wow. Let that sink in a moment. Just....wow.

You were beautiful. (As usual.)

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw! Thanks! It was so great to see you!

[identity profile] bountifulpots.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are gorgeous! May I come visit and pay homage to them, as well? I was actually planning on being in Lawrence last night, but I just feel like I've been run over by a truck, so I didn't make it. Keep letting me know, though!

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2005-11-18 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Will do! And yes, you may come visit them. I'll have handi-wipes by the bookshelf, I think. LOL!

Completely off topic

What was this I heard about a way to waste the 4 o'clock hour of work? (am twiddleing my thumbs here)

*wolf whistle at your new book collection* What a treasure! And you will enjoy them your whole life. I think that is a great way to indulge.

[identity profile] pamelonian.livejournal.com 2005-11-19 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Hell, that's only a dollar per Arabian night! A bargain, if you ask me!

What an excellent way to think about it!!! Thank you!

drooldrooldrool....

I felt much the same about the BBC's collection of Shakespeare productions.

Yeah, it's better than fabric. ;-)
