It's a week before xmas. Do you know where your presents are?

Ok, it's a week and a couple days, but I won't be posting tomorrow or Sunday.

Saturday I'm driving to Ozawkie to hang out with a friend and her mom and learn to make Croatian Nut Bread. Yes, it's worth the drive for that. This stuff is amazing. Wow. Sunday [livejournal.com profile] grnvixen is coming to Lawrence to have lunch and drop off some fabric I've agreed to make into chemises for a community theater production. Then after she leaves I hope to get at least one of the chemises cut and sewn before evening. Busy weekend. Although right before I posted this I found out we might be in for nasty weather, so that all could change.

A lovely, lovely, lovely kitchen appliance that I've never seen before: The BBQ Pit Crock Pot. Want. It. Kinda pricey, though. Maybe it'll be cheaper after the holidays. It holds a full rack of ribs or two chickens! Yowza.

[livejournal.com profile] metaquotes was actually worth reading today, for my learning of the term "Christisntspringhereyetmas" which is now probably my favorite substitution for the holiday name, if not the most practical.

One of my favorite current blogs is Just What I Wanted, listed on my links to the right, there. A couple days ago he posted a link to Magnetic Paint. This has to be one of the coolest things ever. I can think of about 20 zillion things I'd like to paint with this, especially kitchen cabinets. Imagine being able to stick your recipe at eye level while baking. And yes, you can paint over it with latex or enamel paint of your choice. Or, you know, my choice.

And now,

1. What is the oldest object in the room with you? In the room *with* me, so it can't be me, then. Hm. Probably the chair across from my desk. It looks to be early 70s.
2. What is the newest? The fax machine that we just got this week! Woot! Finally, a new machine that doesn't squeak!
3. What is your favorite object in the room with you? The shawl I finished a couple weeks ago. Warm!
4. What is the most valuable object? Me!!!
5. What is the ugliest object? Hm. Well, generally office equipment isn't designed for good looks...Hm. My old LaserJet4 maybe?

1. What's your favorite radio station? KCUR
2. How would you describe the format? Public radio.
3. Do you think satellite radio will become commonplace, like subscribing to cable TV? Isn't it already?
4. Have you thought about buying a satellite radio subscription? Yes, but I'm not home enough to justify it.
5. When is the last time you said goodbye? A couple minutes ago to the student who just left my office.

1. How well do you feel you know your own limits (physical, mental, emotional, etc.)? I know them quite well. Do I pay attention to them? Maybe not so much.
2. When was the last time you pushed your limits? I'm pushing right now, baby.
3. Do you feel as though some of your limits are too low? In other words, do you find them frustrating? If yes, which ones, and why? It doesn't matter if they're low or not. It's not like I'm going to be able to change my limits. I might be able to change how I deal with my limits, but not really the limits themselves.
4. Have you ever been surprised by your limits (either pleasantly or unpleasantly)? If yes, tell us a bit about it. I was surprised the first time I realized I couldn't lift as much as I could when I was weight training (whoa! newsflash!). Now I'm just depressed by it. =D
5. How do you feel your limits compare to the general population's? Are they higher than average, average, or lower than average? Depends on my limits for what. For example, I fear my tolerance for stupidity is much lower than the average Merikun's. But my limits of how many projects I can successfully juggle is, I think, much higher.

That's fabulous. Thanks for posting this.

Isn't it fantastic? You're welcome!

Magnetic paint!!!

I'm already painting a big portion of Ada's wall with chalkboard paint so that she and I can draw on the wall.

Now, I must reserve part of it for magnetic paint! Just to think, I was going to put up a cork board.

Cork boards are for losers. =D

and drop off some fabric I've agreed to make into chemises

Due to my current sleep-depleted state, (and of course my perennial odd obsessions) I read that as "drop off some FANFIC I've agreed to make into chemises." Immediately lovely visions danced in my head! [insert favorite characters here, in appropriate poses, fluttering about one's torso in chemise format . . . ;)]

Wow. Your new hair is obviously interfering way too much with your sleep cycle, darlin'.

Although it is a lovely image. =D
