What a gorgeous day
Blue skies smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies, blue skies do I see
Wow. I really couldn't have asked for anything better, weather-wise. It's just a glorious day. Ah!
No big plans for today. Get through the work day (it's busy--Februray 1 is our second application deadline) and then home this evening to work on The Quilt some more. It's becoming a very odd but appealing mix of luxe and folk art.
I talked with my folks last night, an early happy birthday phone call. Mommy's not taking this aging thing well. At all. This is her last year in her fifties (her bday is in October) and she's a lot more upset about it than I would have imagined. I joked about being on the downhill slope to 70 (I'm 36 now for anyone who cares--over halfway there!) and she went on for a little bit about how she was surprised that 50 wasn't all that bad, but she was really upset over the prospect of 60. Poor thing. I don't know what to tell her or how to make her feel better. I never thought my mom would be so upset about getting old. Perhaps it's because she sees Nana finally getting old (something I don't think she expected to happen--Nana's always been pretty spry despite her weight).
But anyway, poor Mommy. She's been really down lately. I wonder if I should take a three day weekend and go visit.
Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes!

You are not doing one thing for ChernobylRed Day? This weekend? I'll have a glass of ChernobylRed Day wine tonight to celebrate.

Well, I'm going out to lunch...which I should probably do here soon, actually. =D

You should go visit your mom. That sounds like a very wise plan.
And happy birthday, m'dear. If I looked half as good at 32 as you look at 36, I'd be struttin' like a peacock. Thank goodness the looks got saved for the one of us with the better ego control. ;^)
Also, you rock, and will doubtlessly rock moreso as you continue on. Despite my rant about "people diminishing as they get older," you are the exception that proves the rule.

Glad you got the weather you wanted. :)
