I'm a ham, with no eggs

The photoshoot on Friday went really well, I thought. I hope to see some of the results soon. Next time I hope to bring some ideas about posing, since the photographers weren't necessarily portrait photographers and didn't really have many ideas of how to ask models to pose. Not that I've done a lot of amateur modeling, but the couple shoots I've done have been with people who are really good about saying Okay, do this. Now that. Look here. Etc. So for next time, I'll do some research and bring some pose ideas. [livejournal.com profile] slinka, if you have any thoughts, I'm all ears. We're not doing stuff that's strictly in your line, but I'm sure you have some suggestions.

Jesus Christ Superstar on Saturday rocked my world. It was, in a word, awesome. Wow. Just wow.

Sunday was pretty low-key. I got some errands done, but wound up having rather a bad night and didn't fall asleep until way late.

It's interesting that [livejournal.com profile] rougewench and I both came up against one of our Major Fears this weekend. For her, it was more of an "oh hell no" experience, and for me it was a "damn it, why not me" thing. Singing. Singing in public. She had a rather unfortunate evening of listening to bad karoke, and I spent a large portion of Saturday's performance thinking "I want to sing Judas." The part is perfect for my current range. I think I'd be really good. But would I even audition if someone asked me? I don't know.

I was very melancholy all Sunday, probably largely because of that issue. I'm feeling a little disconnected and lonely. Maybe yoga tonight will help center me.

Tomorrow I start gym sessions with [livejournal.com profile] adammaker. I need to get measurements tonight for progress tracking. Anyone wanna come take my measurements? *g*

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot. The doctor said the sore throat was probably allergy related since the strep test was negative and she can see a ton of drainage down the back of my throat (yuck). For the stomach issues, I got a two-week sample of Protonix and if it seems to help, I'll get a two-month prescription. Whippee. I did eat at Ruchi on Saturday with [livejournal.com profile] bestill and suffered no tummy troubles, but that's hardly a definite indicator.

I'd love to take those measurements*grin*.

If you are feeling extra serious about the whole matter, there are people in my building who do those metrics everyday for different studies.
I am tempted to do the same sometime today (get myself measured by pros).

Hell, they are in my building, I'm just a bit nervous to find out how far I have slipped BMI-wise.

Drop me an email for details if'n you desire.

I'm not so concerned about that much detail. But I would like some tracking info about general inches lost.

JCS has long been one of my favorite shows. The best role is, of course, Judas, as he gets to ask all the important questions at the end. I can still sing about 90% of that part.

They're doing another showing at Record Bar in Westport this weekend, if you're interested in seeing this production. The guy playing Jesus is phenomenal. Sounds nearly exactly like Ian Gillan. A-may-zing.

My absolute hands down favorite musical of all time ever!!! And Judas?! E-freaking-gads! *LOVE* that role (and would love to play it too, if I could sing that is)!!! If I recall, I think I remember hearing that Theatre in the Park was doing it this summer; I bet Val could tell you when auditions are (if in fact I'm remembering that correctly)...I've always wanted to see a woman play Judas, and Jesus for that matter. Jesus because if you've got a female Judas and male Jesus it becomes "See? Women ARE evil" kind of thing. Ok I'm done rambling. Bye.

There was an Austin production of JCS years ago that had Emily Saliers and Amy Ray from the Indigo Girls as Mary and Judas, respectively. That would've been amazing to hear/see.

And yeah. No way would I audition for that. Um. No.

No JCS at Theatre in the Park...you must be thinking of Peter Pan...
or perhaps Cats?

I just wanna be in the chorus of JCS - looks like a really fun time crawling "See My Eyes I can hardly see...."

They are doing JCS at the Barn - [livejournal.com profile] malvito is playing Herod.

;)

Generally, it's good to go in with a concept in mind, something usually related to the wardrobe. That will give you a mood and direction to go with the makeup. The mood will direct the posing more than anything if the photographer doesn't. I still prefer a photographer to direct. They can see what's going on in the viewer; I can't. A couple of times, the photographer and I brought in printouts of poses we liked from other shoots. You'd be surprised how different one pose can look when 2 different people do it, and in different settings. Amd one photogarpher had the brilliant idea to set up a full length mirror under his lens. THAT was incredibly helpful.

I wish I could give more concrete advice. Like ensuring spaces or gaps between body parts is a good thing. That sort of thing. I'm not really much help here, sorry. :/

Thanks! That actually helps a lot. I think the idea with the mirror is fantastic. I wonder how we could rig that.

I'll have a lot better idea of how to arrange bodies when I see the results of this shoot. I've never done stuff with 2 models in the frame before. It was fun, but not so easy to think of ideas when I had no idea how it looked!

I can't wait to see some of these pics. :) Thanks for your help today, btw. I am such a freakshow about asking for things sometimes.

I can't wait to see the pictures, either! I'm getting impatient. =)

And seriously, helping people is why MY JOB EXISTS. So yeah, anytime.
