Mundane update and a bit of squishiness
Rats. I forgot to bring a soda to work today to drink with my lunch. Anyone wanna bring me a can of Diet Mountain Dew or Diet Dr. Pepper? I refuse to pay a freakin' dollar for a soda out of the machine. C'mon!
I discovered a lovely thing yesterday, and I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before. I can find discontinued flavors of Avon lip balms (my all-time favorite lip balm manufacturer) on eBay! Oh, beautiful thing! Please note, I am a lip balm fanatic (learned from my mother) and flavored ones are high on my list of "must-haves." Most flavored lip balms, though, have a weird chemical or waxy taste to them. But Avon's seasonal flavors (especially their winter holiday flavors) are always amazing, without that sickly smell/taste that I get from Bonne Bell and others. I ordered six of two of my favorite flavors from last year (Butterscotch and Caramel Apple). A dozen lip balms for $10, with shipping. SCORE!
Yesterday was my first cardio day at the gym with
adammaker. I actually managed 30 minutes on the stationary bike. Go, me! Tonight I'm back lifting weights. My schedule (if anyone cares) is the following:
Monday - Yoga
Tuesday - Weights
Wednesday - Cardio
Thursday - Weights
Friday - Cardio
Saturday - Weights
Sunday - Be Lazy
Last night, I spent a very nice, quiet evening with
roya_spirit. I've been able to feed friends two days in a row! I love cooking for my tribe. Being able to do it more often makes me very happy. We didn't get much crafty stuff done (as intended) but I think we managed to give each other some ideas and inspiration for upcoming bellydance costumes. Watch out, world. The Old Guard is making a comeback. Now if we could just get our old friend Jemira on board, we could take over the world.
Tonight is dinner and garb discussion with much-loved
nottygypsy. She's gonna look so pretty at faire, ya'll. Almost (dare I say it?) girly! Squeee!
Thanks to all my friends who haven't yet tired of giving me support and affection. It has been invaluable. For example,
adammaker (who, as always, has been indefatigable) and
radcliffe stopped by late Sunday night to show off some of their shopping finds and kepp me company for a while when I was having a bad night. Last week
curieuse,
acommonreader, and
indigodreamer stopped by for pizza and chatting when my yoga class got cancelled. It's the little gestures like this that are helping me get through a rough time. I won't go through and call out everyone who has done me a kindness over the past month, but please know that those who have gone out of their way to lift my spirits with a visit, a phone call, a card, a package--I value your friendship more than I can say. Thank you.

Working out
I still need to figure out where I am going to work out after March 31st. I am thinking Holcomb Sports complex (for free) or Body Boutique.
Re: Working out
I'd use Holcomb, if it were I. Body Boutique has some politics that I'd rather not associate myself with.
Body Boutique
If you are referring to "The Fetus Tree," my friend said they took it down immediately. She said that she never even noticed that they were fetuses. The group that came in and offered to put up the tree didn't say anything about what it was supposedly for. The sister who runs the hair salon part of the building is ultra right-wing. I don't know about the other one who runs the gym.
If you know any other politics regarding them, I would be interested.
My major problem with BB is their machines. They are not the kind I like and they don't feel right to me. The ones at the Community Building are old and it smells like sweaty mens all the time. I have never been to Holcomb. I have a strange phobia about going places I have never been alone (though I am going to travel alone to Ecuador, see if that makes any sense!)
Re: Body Boutique
I looked at a trial membership there ages ago and I chose not to join b/c you had to sign up for a specific time to use any of the cardio machines. Um, no thanks. If I'm paying a membership to a gym, it's going to fit my schedule, not the other way around.
