Squwnch

The ear is squwnching again today, pretty loudly. [livejournal.com profile] adammaker said the serrapeptase should really start to work in 4-5 days. So if I don't see some marked improvement by Friday, I'm going to have to figure out something else. I'm seriously considering trying an ear candle, ya'll. It's that bad. I don't wanna go back to the doctor until I find a new one. Anyone have some suggestions for a good PCPin Lawrence? I haven't been happy with Lawrence Family Practice since Susan Siemsen (Carla Phipps's nurse practitioner) left.

[livejournal.com profile] fireguarder mentioned putting up some of my knitting needle cases on eBay and it reminded me that I really really really need to get some of my crap listed, already. Perhaps in my copious spare time this evening I'll work on that. Hell, if I only make enough to pay for my freaking stomach pills, I'll be thrilled.

I used to go to Susan Siemsen, too and really liked her. Now that she's gone I go to Loree Cordova. My mom and uncle go to Loree, too. She's really awesome.

I'll put her on my list of people to check out. Thank you! Does she do OB-GYN stuff, too? Or just general practice? I don't want to have two different doctors.

Notta problem!

I was very sad and angry when Susan was fired. I had seen her for so many years (more than 12) that I cannot remember seeing anyone else.
I now see Dr. Kimberly McKeon in the same office and I really like her. She has been very attentive and proactive on helping me with my back problems. The last time I was there, she spent nearly 30 minutes with me going over my blood test results and answering all my questions. I really felt she had my best interests in mind.

Fired???? She was FIRED!?!?! OMG I had no idea. Um. Do you know why? She was the only person I ever got to listen to me instead of foisting off a pill. Maybe she was spending too much time with patients. =/

I've seen Dr. McKeon twice and both times felt like I got a brush-off. Hm.

That is what I heard. I thought it was strange that she left so suddenly. I had seen her right before she was fired and I was supposed to return and report to her. Then I returned and was informed that Susan was no longer there. I thought it odd since she didn't indicate that she wouldn't be there for the followup. Then I heard from someone else in the medical field a few months ago that she was fired and then it all made sense. She didn't know that she wouldn't be there for my followup. This made me both sad and angry. I wonder where she is now for I would have followed her to wherever she worked.

Yeah, me too.

Sounds fishy. And inspires me to find a different PCP PDQ.

I did a quick Google and found this:

Physician assistant joins clinic -- Susan Siemsen has joined the internal practice of Jeffrey P. Rhoads, M.D., 6650 S.W. Mission Valley Drive, as a physician assistant. She previously worked at Lawrence Family Medical Practice.

Siemsen received her physician's assistant degree from Wichita State University and has practiced family medicine for 17 years. Her practice is open and available to patients ages 12 and older for complete medical care.

Siemsen lives in Lawrence with her husband, Wayne, and their daughter.

From the Topeka Capitol-Journal, February 27, 2005 (http://64.233.179.104/search?q=cache:2qk0HeXpoRcJ:cjonline.com/stories/022705/bus_yourbiz.shtml+%22susan+siemsen%22+&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=13). Alas, I don't think I can go to Topeka everytime I need to see a doctor. Poo.

I've started going to Dr. Joy Murphy at LFMP. She's been pretty good so far. But then, I don't care for Carla Phipps at all. I used to have her as my PCP, and she was condescending to the point of rudeness. I actually had to fight her to get referrals to any sort of specialist, including when I first realized that I probably had an auto-immune disease and when my wisdom teeth were infected.

When I had to have the warts frozen off my fingers she was really great: Upbeat and friendly. But I have some personal reasons to shy away from Dr. Murphy. Nothing I care to go into here, but...yeah. Let's just say if she ever suggests any psychiatric medications for you, Get A Second Opinion.

Yikes. I'll definitely keep that in mind. For now, I'll stick with her largely because she has been quite good about sending me off to specialists instead of making me stew for a few weeks to "see how I'm doing".

I could help fill up your copious amounts of free time this evening.

But I have to warn you. The happiness I'm feeling seems to be a bit on the manic side. So if I start laughing and then crying, don't be alarmed. My gyno explained that since I went off the pill, my hormonal levels will be all over the place.

I'll have to see how my ear feels after the gym tonight. I'll call you when I get home.

I'll let you know. I wish there was a practical way to shop around for a doctor...

Wow, really? I've loved Dr Burt since he gives me samples, suggests natural remedies and just does whatever I tell him I need. He was the only doc who did a minor surgery in his office for me and saved me tremendous amounts of $$ when I didn't have insurance. His wife Nancy does the OBside of things, although I've not seen her because I just like using Planned Parenthood.

Was it the older Dr Ramberg? I liked him too, he's the one who found the healed fracture in my neck that the hideous Dr Gravino claimed was a torn trapezius.

They also have a new woman from India, but she's screwed up my scrips twice now, and was a bit condescending to me when I pointed out her error, so I'm leery of her.
