Money Money Money

All my talk of money woes, and yesterday I dropped about $200 in a snap decision. After talking about my desire to purchase my own grommet setting machine to both [livejournal.com profile] cedarsong and [livejournal.com profile] the_themiscyran (I can only rely on the kindness of [livejournal.com profile] radcliffe so many times), I called up Fastener Supply yesterday afternoon to check their pricing.

The woman who answered the phone apologized that they only had one style of hand press in stock, the HP110 one on this page. Well, that's awfully similar to [livejournal.com profile] radcliffe's, so that's the one I was looking at anyway. The woman brightened up and said "Oh, good news! That one's on sale right now for eighty dollars." Eighty dollars!!! Everywhere else I was looking online was $175 and up. Man. So, um, yeah. Bought it. Bought it, the die (another $62), and a gross of grommets in each color. Oh, and they are offering 25% off shipping for orders of $100 or more. Roxxor. But it was a little unexpected, I admit. So much for not putting any more purchases on the credit card.

On the other hand, I sold another one of my old tassel belts to one of the troupe girls and a third girl might purchase the last one. So hurray! At least two of the belts out of my house and a bit of money in my pocketbook.

Considering your costuming work, that $200.00 was sanely and rationally spent (even if the timing was a mite unexpected).

There are good reasons to use credit cards...so long as those good reasons are not jumbled up in large numbers.

Yes, and today I'm much less "OH MY GOD" about it. I'm actually pretty excited to get it! It could possibly arrive as early as Monday!

oooh, Nice buy.

Seems like a reasonable purchase to me, esp. when you consider the costuming season a' coming.

Do you have a table that you are planning on bolting it to?

I'd like to attach it to my cutting table, but I'll need to rearrange some fabric storage to allow for that.

Of course you know I approve of this purchase!

And how!!! LOL! Speaking of, did you decide if you wanted your bodice to lace up the back and front, like mine do, to allow for more variation in body size?

I did and I do. ;)

I am so tempted to get one of those. We have a snap press that Marz bought for diaper making awhile ago, but I don't know if they have grommet dies for size 0 grommets (which I have plenty of). I'm tempted by it, and for me it would be a business expense.

Don't forget to buy your wallaces with your grommets!

Always wanted one, but don't do nearly enough sewing any more to justify one. At this point, I just want my sewing machine fixed. Maybe for my birthday.
