Love and loss
Thank gods it's Friday of Spring Break and there is nobody around. I'm emotionally exhausted. My friends list today was so full of such overwhelming sadness that I finally just sat at my desk and cried for a minute or so. Lost love, lost trust, lost friends.
As I wept for my friends in front of my computer, I realized that I wouldn't have met any of them without the internet: either usenet news, listservs, or LJ. In fact, despite the fact that some of them are locals, most of our interactions occur electronically. And I am crying for you. Anyone who believes electronic communication is always inferior or more shallow than face-to-face exchanges has no idea of how powerful a friendship can be built online.
My heart is so heavy. But that also means it is full.
