Love and loss
Thank gods it's Friday of Spring Break and there is nobody around. I'm emotionally exhausted. My friends list today was so full of such overwhelming sadness that I finally just sat at my desk and cried for a minute or so. Lost love, lost trust, lost friends.
As I wept for my friends in front of my computer, I realized that I wouldn't have met any of them without the internet: either usenet news, listservs, or LJ. In fact, despite the fact that some of them are locals, most of our interactions occur electronically. And I am crying for you. Anyone who believes electronic communication is always inferior or more shallow than face-to-face exchanges has no idea of how powerful a friendship can be built online.
My heart is so heavy. But that also means it is full.

I hope your friend list feels better soon, so you can, too.

One thing that truly living and truly loving (and experiencing all aspects of that experience) is that it brings one a true empathy for twists in the paths of others. That you feel for them is bittersweet proof that your heart beats strong and true and that you are still amongst the living, emotionally speaking.
Yeah, electronic communication is certainly a valid form, assuming those on both ends of the connection speak plainly (but that is of course true of any other form of communication, isn't it?) If anything, I think connections made on line burn more intensely, because people will, oddly enough, be more plain in this medium, behind the mild odd "safety" of not talking face to face to someone.
May the wheel turn for those you love well.

I absolutely agree that a full heart is far better than an empty one. And that those loved ones we know only via electronic means are as dear, and burn as intensely as those we know in the flesh. I can't differentiate between them...love is love and is always worth sharing.
You are a wonderful friend and I rejoice in knowing you...both ways!
*hug*

I hope that those who you know are suffering find comfort for they obviously still have a friend in you and are not alone in their pain. I also hope you don't have to carry this burden for too long.
ok, I WON'T play the clown for once.
& for the record, I'd REALLY like whatever is influencing all the awful pet stuff to end. NOW. Far too many bad things happening in that area for my friends in the last few months.

And I am very thankful for your friendship. I wish there was something I could do to make you feel better.
We will have a get together soon and make some art! Call me if you want to talk. I'm screening calls in case the media or other freaks call me . . . so start talking and if I'm hear, I'll answer.

By now I hope you are, too.
