She didn't really say that...did she?

I find this annoying. And upsetting. This is (yet) another example of pettiness and folks revising history (something that is increasingly irritating the more I see it).

Bloom County is being re-run in several newspapers, and the ucomics site is also re-running it online. Here is the strip for yesterday:

Now, some of you know that my memory regarding actual events in my life Sux The Big One. But you also know that my memory for tiny, trivial details is nearly always dead spot on. I absolutely remember the final line of this strip being "I know." NOT "Oo. Right, Steve." What gives? Is Breathed revising his strips? Is the distributor? Is this how it appeared in the current print version? I'm curious. And confused. And, yes, annoyed.

I have the original books, if you want to page through them.

Um. Why? I mean, I appreciate the offer, but I'm not asking *if* this was changed. I know it was changed. I'm wondering why was it changed.

ah, sorry. I did not get the question.

It would be really ironic if it was because of Offensensitivity:

Thanks so much for posting that, I'm so sick of people jumping on the "I'm offended, aren't you offended?" bandwagon. Whatever happened to personal communication? OH no, we must raise a Big Stink, involve Everyone, Recruit Followers!

What?
Oh.
Yeah.
Never mind.

That really is annoying.

Girlfriend, that is nitpicky on a level I'd never previously considered possible. I bow to your nitpickiness. I used to think I was nitpicky; no more. You have shown me the error of my foolish beliefs.

I wouldn't be surprised if Breathed had changed it. He's a perfectionist, and from what I've read and seen, a bit of a wanker. Which is sad, because he's brilliant. And not as much of a wank as the Calvin & Hobbes guy, whose name currently eludes. That man told me I was stealing from him for wearing a Calvin t-shirt...when I was, like, 15. Total wank.

It's not nitpicky. I'm just really tired of people changing things they said to make themselves look better.

Tired of it. Really really really fucking tired of it.

Greedo shooting first was just the tip of the iceberg.

The good news is that the original Star Wars movies are being released on DVD in I think Aug or Sept, so we can once again see Han shoot first. Or just ignore George altogether and watch Mal shoot first.

Or just ignore George altogether and watch Mal shoot first.

Rock hard. Or is it "rawk"?
In any case, I agree.

Bill Waterson. Now if it was a t-shirt of Calvin peeing...
:P

My guess is it's the distributor, so's not to offend. Stupid PCism. I'd wager it was a lazy-ass copy & paste job, too. the "OO. Right, Steve" looks too much like it was lifted straight from panel 2's "Right Steve. So?" with a little rearranging of the order and replacing the "S" with another "O".

Bloom County was and is one of my favorite syndicated comic strips (the other biggie being Far Side and a bit of Calvin & Hobbes thrown in). It's sad to see the things mocked then, like Offensensitivity, not only still around, but affecting the strip itself. It's just too bad that BB seems to have stagnated; Opus isn't nearly as good, cutting, nor humorous as Bloom County and even Outland were.

Thank you for getting my point here. It seems not many are understanding where I'm coming from on this.

I agree that it's probably the distributor, which pisses me off. A lot.
