Green and blue

Walking up to campus this morning was such a visual treat! The green green green of the hill, with blue sky on one side and slighty gray clouds on the other. Such a gorgeous array of color.

I went in with some folks on a cheeptrims order last month and completely spaced ordering one of the items I need for my cabaret costume. *facepalm* Dammit! I had Renfest on the brain and didn't even thing about my summer dance show costume until this week. Cheeptrims has a $60 minimum order. Do I cough up the remaining $50 for other items that I don't really need? Or do I pay about half that to buy sequin trim at a regular store (and get only about 10 yards instead of 100)?

One of our faculty members was recently diagnosed with two inoperable brain tumors. Malignant. Yuck. The creepy thing is, he's the fifth professor with an office in Wescoe who has come down with brain cancer in a fairly short period of time. Apparently OSHA is filing a request for a study. I always thought Wescoe was an eyesore, but who knew it could actually be poison? Scary.

[livejournal.com profile] adammaker posted this yesterday, but I wanted to spread it around. scans of pulp novel covers. [livejournal.com profile] secret_malady and [livejournal.com profile] scary_manilow, this is posted with you all in mind, particularly.

Apparently OSHA is actually filing a request for a study.

Wow.

I hadn't even thought of that.

Aren't you especially glad you didn't take a TA position now?

Jeeesuz!!!

At least you're having gut problems, and not brain problems...? Wow.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2006-05-11 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, at least no more brain problems than I started this job with.

[identity profile] subplot2.livejournal.com 2006-05-11 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Always. ;)

Mind if I steal a few for icons?

Oh, honey! That's why I posted the link! You'll note I've already availed myself of the opportunity. =)

*grin* I just may be able to help you out with the CheepTrims thing...there's a bolt of lace I want for the Victorian day dresses I haveta make before June. I also wasn't thinking about the next projects. Well, to be fair to myself, I hadn't designed them yet!

So do you wanna go in on my order?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2006-05-11 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd be FABULOUS. Send me the item numbers!

I found a new icon that reminded me of you. I used it with this comment.

Squeee! Thank you! I didn't see that one!

I will try and cruise cheeptrims today and see if anything is calling my name.

One of my English profs. told us about the elevated brain cancer at Wescoe.

Further evidence that the building needs to be demolished, and something prettier, with windows that open, needs to be built!

How long has the english dept. been in there?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2006-05-11 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Since Wescoe was built, I believe. I've only been here since late 2001, though.

Those pulp novel covers are just too cool! Sexy and hilarious at the same time...

[identity profile] rougewench.livejournal.com 2006-05-11 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
I doubt that they'd want to replace the building, as it would take very specific re-engineering to get one to stay in that spot. Wescoe itself is sliding down the hill.

D.

[identity profile] next-bold-move.livejournal.com 2006-05-11 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)

One of the reasons that it's sliding, though, is that it's poorly engineered: too heavy for it's location on the hill.

And it's god-awful ugly.

Crikey. One of our accountants has a tumor behind her eye. and she works in a cube in the back corner of the Union building, no windows etc.
I wonder if she worked in Wescoe before she came here.

That's absolutely frightening.

I might have some other info on the Candida thing, I'll check my vitamin/natural health books. It sounds worth a look. I have several of those symptoms myself.
