A new dress really does make a girl feel better
Last night I got home from work absolutely beat. I actually felt like I'd been beaten. I was exhausted, hot, achey, and my hip joints were really stiff (even after walking home in the heat). I laid down on the couch for a while, then got up and washed dishes. Laid back down for short while and thought "hm." I took my temperature. Lo and behold, I was running a fever of about two degrees. My usual body temperature runs around 97.5 and my temperature last night was 99.3.
This morning I could barely get out of bed, my hips were so stiff. I felt around and whoa, were my lymph nodes swollen and tender. The ones in my neck aren't too bad, but Ow! my poor groin. I'm not sure if I have some sort of weird summer cold (I feel okay, just tired and achey) or if something we did in Monday night's yoga class started something moving around in there. Regardless, I'm moving slowly and carefully today.
It took me a little over twenty minutes to walk to campus this morning (usual time: fifteen). But I figured walking to and from work was likely the only exercise I'd be up to today (sorry,
adammaker), so I'd better do it.
On the plus side, I took the evening off to hermit myself (partially due to tiredness, partially due to my non-desire to contaminate anyone) and made a sheath dress. There are a few alterations I'll make to the pattern next time I make it (for one, a narrower neckline to avoid slight gaping), but overall, a definite win. It took me a bit longer to make it than it should have--I put the zipper in too early and didn't account for needing to turn the facing to the inside. Oh well. So the zipper is a little wonky. I remembered to use one of my decorative stitches on the hem and the effect is quite charming.
So, still feeling a little bleh today, but at least I get to wear a new dress.
