Addendum

Something I didn't mention in my review of the workshop was the fact that I did manage to injure myself--but not until I was home in Kansas. I made it through the workshop with minimal joint pain and some slight muscle soreness. But when the plane landed in KC, I stood up to get my bag from the overhead bin and I felt my right calf go r-i-i-p! Ow. I got home ok (had to have people help me and my carry-on bag on and off the shuttle to economy parking) and barely made it inside my apartment. I had to crawl around on my hands and knees Sunday night because I couldn't even limp. I didn't go to work on Monday but thanks to arnica lozenges and gel, ibuprofen, tiger balm, and much babying, I felt ok yesterday. Today the muscle is just slightly stiff.

It was a drag, but at least it didn't happen during the workshop. I'd have been super pissed.

Lesson learned? I need to build up my calf muscles in a serious way.

I hope you feel better soon

Eccentric (resisted stretching and pushing) and concentric (tightening or contracting) calf muscle exercises can be a big help. There are a number of really good exercises (http://www.netfit.co.uk/dutch/members/calf/calf_exercise_exercises.htm).

I cringed all the way through reading that, and almost cramped my cringer.
