LJ, why do you hate me?

Remember a few weeks back when I said LJ was highlighting text weird? So I couldn't highlight a section of a post to quote it, but had to select the whole thing, or at least a very large chunk?

Well now I can't select text on any LJ page at all, even pages I'm editing. All other software programs on my computer are operating just fine.

So weird. And so very annoying.

Sounds like some JavaScript is running somewhere that has turned text selection, copy/paste off. Maybe a setting in your browser (I'm not having the problem in IE6), or a setting picked up from another webpage, or something embedded into someone's LJ entry (or perhaps your own template?).

If you close all browser windows and come back to an LJ page, do you have the same problem? Try that, and try it twice: once to whatver LJ page you usually call "home", and once directly to someone else's page. See if there's a difference.

Funny - I just posted about this myself. Irritating as all get-out. Rebooting won't do anything if they did bad scripting for IE.

Fascinating. Yes, I do have an open USB port, but I'm not going to spend the cash to buy a portable storage device just so I can highlight text in LJ.

I was thinking that it was just me that couldn't highlight anything. I've rebooted this comp TWICE thinking that might fix it but to no avail.

On my home or friends' page, things seem to be working fine. It's when I have to go behind a cut or something that things get weird. But yes - very annoying!

Are you using Internet Explorer or Firefox. On IE at home yesterday I could not highlight text. Today on Firefox at work I have no problem.

I found I had this problem with the new default LJ has set up (Horizon, I think) I changed back to Xcolbir , or whatever they call it) and I can copy and paste again. BLISS.
