Sleepless in Shoppingland
Been putting off ordering those holiday presents? I know it's getting down to the wire for shopping. Here are some of my shopping links.
Mighty Goods -- I heard about this on NPR's Morning Edition this weekend. It's kind of like the defunct "Just What I Wanted" blog. Keen.
Archie McPhee -- A lot of you probably have this one bookmarked already.
William Spear Design -- Absolutely stunning enamel pins.
Uncommon Goods -- Little bit of everything, from bath salts to cufflinks.
Stuff-O-Rama -- Crap, crap, and more crap. But fun crap!
Edmund Scientific Supply -- Pretty self-explanatory.
Etsy -- Support independant artists!
Sock Dreams -- Even fashion-challenged girls love a fun pair of socks.
Elsewares -- Sort of like the love child of Etsy and Uncommon Goods.
Think Geek -- If you haven't shopped there yet, you really should.
Perpetual Kid -- I just discovered this site and I love it.
And then of course the various "click to give" sites. Here is the link to the Hunger Site store, but you can click to any of the other stores from there. I've ordered several things through them or one of the affiliates and I've been very happy with the stuff.
Anyone got some other funky sites to add?
I had a good run of one night in a row for the sleeping well. Woohoo. Back to the ol' late-night-early-morning routine, I guess.
Note to sewing-types: Hancock Fabrics has holiday-theme novelty cottons are 50% off. If you've got last minute seasonal fabric needs, go! I picked up some charming Alexander Henry stuff for cheap--well, at 50% off it was a reasonable price to pay for cotton fabric. But dude, Alexander Henry! Nice stuff.
I have too many projects going right now. Eeek. I need a week to catch up with everything going on in my sewing room--and in my head. So many good ideas are going on the back burner right now. I hate that. Hmm. I wonder if that's why I'm not sleeping well? My brain is churning away on projects that I don't have time to create.

You know, although I know you're usually not down with Rob Brezny's horoscopes for Aquarius...I thought the one he had today for you all was oddly apropos:
"Aquarius Horoscope for week of December 7, 2006
One of my relatives who was born under the sign of Aquarius once locked herself in her art studio for six months and painted 20 giant canvases all with the same theme: hurricanes extinguishing forest fires. Then she went through a phase when she specialized in painting punk angels with tattered wings swooping down to give birthday cakes and balloons to bums in junkyards. After that she emerged fully into the world again and lived her life in a way that resembled the paintings she'd been doing. She acted like a metaphorical hurricane as she put out metaphorical forest fires, and she went around helping the underprivileged while styling herself in the persona of a punk angel. She's your role model for the coming weeks, Aquarius. It will be a great time to translate your eccentric dreams and private fantasies into practical actions."
Please let us know if there's anything we, as your community, can do to assist you in finding a way to bring the things within you to fruition.

For what it's worth, his horoscope for me this week is a nice thought, but nothing to write home about. Maybe he can only manage it hit the mark on some of them each week...(you know, I can't imagine what a pain it would be to try to produce that content...).

I just gave up sketching them out. :/ A month off to work on creative stuff only would be heaven.
