New tradition, my ass.
I read this article on the KU website, which is about an organized scream during finals. Now what's funny is that (disgraced) Stephenson Hall started this tradition back in the 80s. It would happen every night (I think around 11 p.m.) during the two weeks of finals, and the old folks living in the apartment complex by the scholarship halls would call in noise complaints. I imagine the Chancellor wasn't a big fan, either.
Nerdboys can be terrors when left to their own devices. In a large group. With the back windows of two female scholarship halls within easy viewing distance. Stephenson was the renegade scholhall, even back then. I wasn't too surprised when they got slapped down for unacceptable behavior a couple years ago. But they did sponsor some fun events, including scholhall block parties, and the finals-week Stephenson Screams.
But now one of them is a university-sanctioned event, at a respectable hour of the day. And I bet very few people remember where it started.
I'm still feeling pretty under the weather. I'm sure I have a headcold. I have that weird behind-the-ears headache--the kind where your head kind of feels full, you know? Sore throat, etc. etc. And I slept all through the night and woke up to my alarm. So yeah, probably sick if I'm sleeping that well. *grumble* Perhaps, though, that full night's sleep can be chalked up to the two Hot Toddys I made yesterday evening. I'd never made them before, but I think I'll be making them quite often. These might replace the jug of mulled wine I usually keep in the fridge during the winter. Mmmm. I didn't have any whiskey, so I used Irish Mist Liqueur. Tasty.
I forgot my lunch at home.

2 T whiskey/brandy/or in my case, Irish Mist
1 T honey
1 T lemon juice
1 tea bag
3 cloves
Put all in a mug and pour hot water over all, let steep briefly (not to full strength).
Now, if you mean do I want to share my Irist Mist...well, I'll have to think about that. =D

Re: Midnight Scream
I missed meeting you in Hash by one year. I hung out there a lot my first couple years at KU.

KU - do you still live in Lawrence?
I see your comments in Sagendal & ProfessorMass's LJs sometimes, but I didn't realize you were in KS. My family's from Atchison & KC, and most of my relations, including my parents, went to KU. I applied, but decided on AU (in DC) instead.
Cheers!
