It just keeps getting better!
I have so much respect for our current president that I think I might just switch sides and register Republican! Take as an example the insightful video linked in this post by
mechascorpio. Ha, ha! That George. What a charming cad.

Yesterday was quite the welcome back to work. Not all of it was really enjoyable, but it did reaffirm that I'm a valuable employee. A bit of reinforced job security never hurts. Details not forthcoming--suffice to say it pays off to have a (deservedly) good reputation for being dependable and trustworthy.
Last night I baked up a loaf of banana bread with some rotten bananas that I was sure would be past the point of use when I returned from my trip. Hurray for me, they weren't even as black as they could have been. So I am not breakfastless this morning. Because gods know I really can't stand to miss a meal.
I got to spend time with
bestill last night, and it was the most amazing thing, watching her spin! I've never actually sat to watch someone spin fiber before. Fascinating and beautiful. Oh, and her new journal is absolutely jaw-dropping. I can't wait to take some journal-making classes with her.
I had a fabulous vacation with
alt_rorschach and
rorschachsix. A million thanks to them and their hospitality. I ate amazing food, slept in nearly every morning, did a spot of shopping (new bras!), and enjoyed some wonderful sightseeing. It was a perfect vacation--just the right mix of activity and sloth. Much needed and much appreciated.

That would be today.

When bananas start to go bad, I just put them in the freezer until I have enough for banana bread. The bread tastes just as good to me, and I don't have to worry about the bananas actually rotting.

I've tried the freezer thing, but the bananas got all liquid-y when I thawed them. I was worried the batter would be too runny. Does it work OK even with the extra liquid or should I add more flour?

The bread seems to work just fine with the extra liquidy bananas. We've never added extra flour.
Also, a friend of ours made some for us where she added something like a teaspoon of molasses. It made it a little more gooey on the outside and more .. um .. wintery-tasting overall. Yum.
By the way, have you seen "The Bake Sale Cookbook?" Somebody got it for us a a present a long time ago, and it took me a couple of years to open it because it looked sketchy. It turns out that almost all of the recipes are super easy and very good.

I haven't seen that cookbook, but I'm all over trashy food, anyway. If it's good trashy food, so much the better!
