Experiment
Yesterday I ate the exact same things at nearly the exact same times that I did on Monday, to see if I could replicate the stomach problems. With the exception of the couple bites of raw broccoli and spicy peanut dip, my Tuesday food was identical to Monday. Nothing. Not even a tummy twinge. So. I tracked all the times I reported stomach episodes on LJ, which were pretty much all the really bad ones--episodes I would classify as a 4 or 5 on a 1-5 scale. My first episode was in May of 2005. And after that, the dates are: 2/10/06, 4/21/06, 12/24/06, and 1/22/07. The only date that I don't know what I ate that day is the April 2006 one. So I'm pretty sure I didn't eat restaurant food, or anything particularly notable. Now it's a matter of analyzing those days and the days surrounding them to remember if there were any particular emotional stressors. I'm not opposed to thinking "it's all in my head" and in fact I'd even welcome that--heck, one less possible food allergy? I'm There. But if/when I have another bad episode, I shall certainly go to the emergency room to get scoped. It can't make the situation worse, at least, and it will be the second-to-last option before an MRI or surgery.
