Overcast

On a clear day you can see forever, but today I'm going to be lucky to see through until tonight. I'm so tired. Dunno why, but I just couldn't sleep last night. I woke up this morning with a headache, but made an effort to dress sassy because you know that thing about looking good vs. feeling good? It's true. And it helps. Especially when hot women call out to you across the parking lot and tell you they like your boots. That's a good feeling, friends.

I made some good progress on the mohair scarf last night. It looks significantly less 70s crochet-ish in mohair than it did with the Micro-Spun. Thank gods. I was beginning to despair.

I've come to the decision that I'm going to have to bite the bullet and purchase a serger as soon as I can afford it, rather than wait until my credit card is paid off. There are too many projects I have on standby right now--including a shirt for my dad, three shirts for [livejournal.com profile] professormass, and stretch knit clothes for me--for which I need a serger. So I'm in the market for good, used sergers. I'd love one that will do a lettuce-leaf edge hem but if that bumps the price up by more than a couple hundred dollars, I'll sacrifice that option. Just no more rinky-dink sergers for me. I want something that will hold up to a lot of use and one that doesn't succumb to the dreaded third-thread breakage like the Simplicity ones I've used in the past.

If I sold every needle case I have in stock right now, I'd have $500. [livejournal.com profile] bestill and [livejournal.com profile] tattooedartgirl, I think I'll be joining you in the ranks of Etsy sellers soon. Mama needs a serger. And a new pair of shoes.

Okay, those shoes are way too frickin' cute. I don't even like shoes, but those are great!

I love them. I saw them when I was in San Diego and I should have just bought the damn things then. I need a pair of pretty, comfortable shoes for my Italy trip this summer. So it's not just a "oooh, new shoes!" thing. I really do need these shoes.

Are Hush Puppies really comfy, then? Because I actually need to invest in better quality shoes, and those look damned cute.

I think it depends on your feet what you find comfortable...some people think the Double-H boots I live in nearly all winter are terrible, but they've never even rubbed a blister on me.

You'd have to try them on to see how they worked with your particular feet. Some people swear by Aerosoles, but they make my feet cry for mercy.

I can see the shoes on you.. and on me too. Those are lovely.

Do you really need an extra option for lettuce edging? I can do it with a regular zig-zag machine if we're talking about the same thing, so I can't imagine that it would take an extra couple hundred on a serger or overlock.

I have a page on them bookmarked, I'll send it to you.

I'd be very interested to see how a standard machine does a lettuce-leaf hem and how it compares to the quality of a lettuce-leaf hem done on a serger.

Yes! Send the links. Thanks.

When you decide to make the etsy plunge, I'm happy to help with the photos!

Cool!!! Thank you!
