Algebra help

I'm trying to convert a 9-point grading system to the standard 4-point grading system.

So 6.62 is to 9 as X is to 4. Solve for X.

Help! I don't remember how to do this!

UPDATE: You all are awesome. Thank you!

You have to cross multiply. 6.62/9 = x/4. So (6.62)(4) = 9x

26.48 = 9x

x = 2.942

Glad to help! Especially when it involves math. I miss math...

I'm pretty sure X in that case is approximately 2.942

Rock! Muchos gracias.

Oh, you got it already. :D I get to do that particular kind of math quite a bit, converting dilutions and such.

This is the second time I've ever had to do this at my current job and it completely blows me away. I mean...really. But as evidenced by my post and the responses, I still don't need to know algebra. I just need Live Journal.

Ahhhh! A post where I could have been useful, and I missed it!!!
