Ok, done now!
I'm ready for something good. It's going to have to be pretty damn big bunch of good to pull me out of this funk.
Shitty time at the Suhaila workshop.
Infuriating bullshit going on in my personal life.
Developers and expansionists won the day in yesterday's elections.
Stress at work and at home.
Still not sleeping.
Tired of people acting like selfish children and other people not taking a stand against such behavior.
So yeah. I'm ready to have a good time for a while. Any takers?

I've been meaning to post in re: the skirt, which arrived Saturday, but then procrastinated because I didn't want to post until I had pictures. IT'S AWESOME. Slightly too big at back of waist band only, but otherwise fits my hips/ass perfectly. And it's SUCH an awesome material. I felt totally fancy baby when I tried it on.
The *bad* thing is that I'm a fair bit over what I like to think of as my "normal" weight (in that I'm certainly not huge or anything, but I've veered outside of my self-prescribed limits and don't fit in any of the pants in my closet) and things like this skirt make me want to not lose anything!!!

I'm so happy you like the skirt! Isn't that fabric the greatest? You can always keep it as a "fat skirt" for period-bloat days. =D

I just love it. I felt like immediately I should be in sort of slouchy black baby doll sweater, with my glasses perched on my nose, leaning sort of against something, staring out into the middle distance somewhere, and appearing to think great thoughts. Perhaps brushing my bangs out of my eyes. Er, I mentioned feeling totally fancy baby in it, didn't I?
I will send beach juju your way!

I'll keep that in mind. Too bad there's no demolition derbys scheduled in the near future...not that I could afford to go right now, anyway.

I'm baffled because I remember it from when I was in elementary school, and I thought it was dead, and now I've been hearing about it from multiple sources for the last half year. Color me baffled.

1) There's the pure, campy spectacle of young women in costumes shoving each other around on roller skates.
2) There's actually more than a bit of athleticism to the whole thing, which is fun.
3) The Kansas City matches are more all-purpose alt-culture happenings than just roller derby things... bands play, belly-dancers dance and shenanigans occur.
4) Because of the neighborhood in which I live and the places which I frequent, I seem to know half of the derby girls by sight. It's good to back a Midtown KC girl.
5) Four hours or so of live entertainment's hard to come by for less than $20.
6) Did I mention the costumes? Because they're outstanding.
7) Rockabilly girls. On skates. Shoving each other. On skates.
