Minutiae of daily life
Friday night was fabulous, fabulous, fabulous.
shrijani, you clever minx, you, hiding the identity of one of the fabulous boys. It was wonderful to reconnect with someone in Lawrence who's been around here since 1988, like me.
I was a good girl and got to bed by midnight-thirty, but I woke up at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. Yuck. However, that meant I was up bright and early to visit the Farmer's Market, and picked up some amazing purple asparagus, white and red radishes, and some labneh. Mmmm! Later,
solan_t came by to walk me through making a corset, at least halfway. Dummy me forgot about this mildly important component called a busk. *facepalm* I'll be ordering that today.
It was great to see
bestill, too! Sorry you didn't get as much done as you would have liked on your project. Poor thing!
Sunday I went to KC to hang out with a friend and help her with some sewing projects. We only got one project done (she needed help with repair and alterations of some vintage garments), but we were distracted by some of the Easter Eggs on the Duran Duran: Live In London DVD and her latest Netflix find: Rebel Beat: The Story of L.A. Rockabilly.
I got eight hours of sleep last night! Very exciting. However, this morning when my alarm went off, I was more tired than when I wake up in the middle of the night. Not sure what that's about. I talked to my former-RN mom about my sleep issues and she said I should go get my hormones checked for early onset menopause. OMFGWFTBBQ???? Since I am choosing to deny the possibility of that particular reality, I shall give it another month before I seek medical advice on the issue. Seriously. Menopause? I'm thirty-seven! Yes, I know, I know. SHUT UP. It was bad enough hearing it from my mom. I don't want to hear it from anyone else. Seriously.
The Fast-5 thing is going well. I was a little worried about how I would fare over the weekend, but really, I was fine. As I thought, staying busy is the key and I have no problem staying busy.

Did you work on it much after I left? I really want to see it as it comes along.

I just now walked in the door from my local compounding pharmacy with a take-at-home Hormone Profile I test in my bag. Something is up with me and I don't know what and, damnit, I'm finding out! Spit in a tube, mail if off, then get my three page Hormone Evaluation Report via email.
Do you have any compounding pharmacies near you? Prescription Lab is ours and, really, you can walk in (AND EVERY ONE IS SO FUCKING NICE), buy the tests and get it all handled on your own time.

Menopause happens earlier for some, hun.
I am almost 40 now, and am just waiting to see when it starts.
Ellen gave me lots of good advice on it, by the way.

Looks like you can order it right on line. Not inexpensive, mind you, but you can order it right on line and be done right now, which always weighs into my factoring the "cost" of anything. Comes all complete, with shipping label and everything.
They have take-at-home test for near everything. I also bought a NeuroBalance, five neurotransmitter test for Jim to take because I think he's been off (as in mopey, low grade depressed, ...?) in the last year or so. I can GUARANTEE Jim is not getting his ass into the doctor anytime soon because that involves stuff, you know? Taking time off work, going somewhere, *talking* to someone. Eh.
So, he'll pee in a cup, I'll mail if off, 7 days later we'll know if he's serotonin low or dopamine low or whatever and *then* he'd actually do something about it.

Really. I honestly doubt that's the issue, it doesn't run in my family, and have enough stress in my life at the moment that honestly? I don't need to add to it.

This is also super helpful if I think my thyroid starts to go out of whack again.

I so miss the little Lebanese restaurant downstairs from my old apartment in New Brunswick.
I still haven't found any Lebanese places here with food halfway as good.

Why can't we just nap whenever we need it?

I work on campus 8-5, so if you're a KU student, that makes it easy. Otherwise, I'm home most of tomorrow evening. Email me to work something out. My email is on my LJ userinfo page.
