Minutiae of daily life

Friday night was fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. [livejournal.com profile] shrijani, you clever minx, you, hiding the identity of one of the fabulous boys. It was wonderful to reconnect with someone in Lawrence who's been around here since 1988, like me.

I was a good girl and got to bed by midnight-thirty, but I woke up at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday. Yuck. However, that meant I was up bright and early to visit the Farmer's Market, and picked up some amazing purple asparagus, white and red radishes, and some labneh. Mmmm! Later, [livejournal.com profile] solan_t came by to walk me through making a corset, at least halfway. Dummy me forgot about this mildly important component called a busk. *facepalm* I'll be ordering that today.

It was great to see [livejournal.com profile] bestill, too! Sorry you didn't get as much done as you would have liked on your project. Poor thing!

Sunday I went to KC to hang out with a friend and help her with some sewing projects. We only got one project done (she needed help with repair and alterations of some vintage garments), but we were distracted by some of the Easter Eggs on the Duran Duran: Live In London DVD and her latest Netflix find: Rebel Beat: The Story of L.A. Rockabilly.

I got eight hours of sleep last night! Very exciting. However, this morning when my alarm went off, I was more tired than when I wake up in the middle of the night. Not sure what that's about. I talked to my former-RN mom about my sleep issues and she said I should go get my hormones checked for early onset menopause. OMFGWFTBBQ???? Since I am choosing to deny the possibility of that particular reality, I shall give it another month before I seek medical advice on the issue. Seriously. Menopause? I'm thirty-seven! Yes, I know, I know. SHUT UP. It was bad enough hearing it from my mom. I don't want to hear it from anyone else. Seriously.

The Fast-5 thing is going well. I was a little worried about how I would fare over the weekend, but really, I was fine. As I thought, staying busy is the key and I have no problem staying busy.

Oh, you are not 37.
You're 27.
Take it.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
*flutters eyelashes*

I love you, darling.

[identity profile] amjhawk.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Speaking of hanging out and exciting events, you are cordially invited to my graduation celebration, consisting of dinner, beer, conversation, Diane, et alia at 75th St. Brewery starting at 7pm.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Awesome! Thank you! I'm marking that in my planner right now.

*jumps up and down excitely about being proclaimed a Clever Minx*

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You are, indeed, quite the clever minx, hon. =D

[identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you aren't supposed to order the busk until you know what size it needs to be, anyway!

Did you work on it much after I left? I really want to see it as it comes along.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
12"! I measured when I got it all sewn up Saturday night. I kept working after you left, so it's just waiting on the hardware at this point.

[identity profile] solan-t.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet! I really hate this point - waiting on hardware, but it happens often, since one doesn't know what sizes until this point.

[identity profile] auroraceleste.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I have two 12" silver busks and tons of boning of various sizes if you want to keep working and just trade me whatever you use when it comes in on order.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooo--you darling! That'd be lovely! Yes, thank you.

I shall email you to work out details.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
You cannot be 37 because I'm only 24, and I've been in Lawrence since 1993.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Since you are the person with the degree in math, I shall bow to your superior figuring skills.

[identity profile] stuology.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
When it comes to math, I will not lead you astray.

I shall give it another month before I seek medical advice on the issue.

::semi-snorts in amused sympathy::

I just now walked in the door from my local compounding pharmacy with a take-at-home Hormone Profile I test in my bag. Something is up with me and I don't know what and, damnit, I'm finding out! Spit in a tube, mail if off, then get my three page Hormone Evaluation Report via email.

Do you have any compounding pharmacies near you? Prescription Lab is ours and, really, you can walk in (AND EVERY ONE IS SO FUCKING NICE), buy the tests and get it all handled on your own time.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I've never heard of a take-at-home hormone profile! We do have a compounding pharmacy in town. Maybe I'll go check them out--[livejournal.com profile] adammaker, d'you know about such a take-home-exam?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_luaineach/ 2007-05-14 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
You may be able to stay right at home. I just looked at my test kit and it is from ZRT Laboratory.

www.zrtlab.com

Looks like you can order it right on line. Not inexpensive, mind you, but you can order it right on line and be done right now, which always weighs into my factoring the "cost" of anything. Comes all complete, with shipping label and everything.

They have take-at-home test for near everything. I also bought a NeuroBalance, five neurotransmitter test for Jim to take because I think he's been off (as in mopey, low grade depressed, ...?) in the last year or so. I can GUARANTEE Jim is not getting his ass into the doctor anytime soon because that involves stuff, you know? Taking time off work, going somewhere, *talking* to someone. Eh.

So, he'll pee in a cup, I'll mail if off, 7 days later we'll know if he's serotonin low or dopamine low or whatever and *then* he'd actually do something about it.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Bookmarked. Thanks!

This is also super helpful if I think my thyroid starts to go out of whack again.

Menopause happens earlier for some, hun.

[identity profile] bodandra.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
My aunt went into it at 37 - was done by 42.
I am almost 40 now, and am just waiting to see when it starts.
Ellen gave me lots of good advice on it, by the way.

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, not to be rude or anything, but please note the request in the post above, plskthx?

Really. I honestly doubt that's the issue, it doesn't run in my family, and have enough stress in my life at the moment that honestly? I don't need to add to it.

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
You've made a lot of dietary changes lately. I think your body is just rebelling at the changes, as well as the early time change.

Why can't we just nap whenever we need it?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Why can't we just nap whenever we need it?

Because the universe hates us!

[identity profile] redheadfae.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)

We should move to a Latin country. Then we can siesta.

[identity profile] shanmonster.livejournal.com 2007-05-14 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmmm. Labneh.

I so miss the little Lebanese restaurant downstairs from my old apartment in New Brunswick.

I still haven't found any Lebanese places here with food halfway as good.

Hello! Just thought I would make a random post to let you know who I am, since I see that you're on my friends list and I'm not on yours. I'm Erica from sewing night, the blonde one who was [probably] wearing a black hoodie, though I can't remember at this point. The reason I'm posting this now as opposed to some other time is because mckitterick responded to one of my posts regarding wishing for Hancock coupons, and he said you might have a spare.. I need 6 yards of velvet before ConQuest, and can't afford it unless I have a coupon. Would you be able and willing to spare one? ^^

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2007-05-15 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I do have one! And no, I'm not going to use it. It expires Thursday, though. I'd be happy to pass it to you if you can get it before then.

I work on campus 8-5, so if you're a KU student, that makes it easy. Otherwise, I'm home most of tomorrow evening. Email me to work something out. My email is on my LJ userinfo page.
